Historia
Gadsby grew up as the youngest of five children in Tasmania, where homosexuality was illegal until 1997. After moving to mainland Australia and receiving a degree in art history, they found themselves adrift, working itinerant jobs and enduring years of isolation punctuated by homophobic and sexual violence. When Gadsby was twenty-seven, a friend encouraged them to enter a stand-up competition. They won, and so began their career in comedy.

Lovely
Revisado: 09-14-22
I loved Nanette when I first saw it, and then Douglas as well. This is the beautiful landscape against which it was all written - any aspect of the show I may have questioned before has been overwritten as pure genius.
When I say "beautiful" I don't mean of the sunshine and roses variety, but beautiful in the way that life is messy and chaotic and not a straight line, and this captured that in all its complexity. I am left feeling both - as though I have a much more complete picture and, simultaneously, as though I have barely scratched the surface.
I was also glad to have it narrated by Hannah, herself. It seemed only natural that her perspective be told by her as any other narrator in this neurotypical world might have struggled to convey her voice in all this.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.

This book is an e x p e r i e n c e. Amanda took the audiobook format and really made it her own in a compelling way. I'm really glad I listened to it and got to hear pieces of the music that makes her, her. It is incredibly raw and real, and her love for humanity really shines through every facet of her story telling. Thank you.

Historia
In Scaling Up Excellence, best-selling author Robert Sutton and Stanford colleague Huggy Rao tackle a challenge that determines every organization’s success: scaling up further, faster, and more effectively as a program or an organization creates a larger footprint. Sutton and Rao have devoted much of the last decade to uncovering what it takes to build and uncover pockets of exemplary performance, to help spread them, and to keep recharging organizations with ever-better work practices.

I listened to it at 1.5x speed which helped. The book is fascinating if you're interested in how to grow organizations effectively or have maybe wondered what goes wrong in places that don't.

Parts were fun, but got repetitive quickly

The emails were hard to listen to, and I now understand why the BDSM community dislikes the book's representation of the community.
