Fr. Kapaun’s story is a testament to the resilience of a true follower of Christ even in the most dire of circumstances. He is an example for us all, and I look forward to his eventual canonization!

Important for Catholics

Flanders provides a wealth of important historical information as it relates to the Catholic Bible. My only criticism is that the subtitle of “A Beginner’s Guide to Reading the Scriptures” is somewhat misleading - I would consider this more appropriate for intermediate to advanced Catholics.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Well written and engaging. I got through it pretty quickly because I could listen on 1.5x-1.8x speed and still get the full story. I’ll definitely get the next book in the series.

I chose to listen first to this abridged version to get an overview of the Gulag Archipelago. Even this shorter version takes a decent amount of time to get through, but it is extremely engaging and informative. To say that it is eye-opening is an understatement. After finishing this version, I would like to read or listen to the full version soon.
