Sara Ney writes the best banter and her books have the best slow build tension in them! I love the chemistry of her couples. She’s always a win for me.

This is the final book in the Travis & Viola duet. I'm sure we will get to see them plenty more in the next duet in this series though! I enjoyed this one more (as I tend to do with duets) than the first one, because we got more of their happy ending!

Travis was a much more sensitive and kind guy in this book, which made me finally fall for him more! Violet was still her strong, smart-ass self that I loved in the first book. They really do mesh well in this book and give you all the feels. I think, personally, Violet was the character in this book that did the most growth. Don't get me wrong, Travis needed to grow, but he seemed to realize that and did it relatively quickly. But Violet grew to be even stronger and more confident in who she was. As the reader, I was almost like a proud mom watching her grow and mature into an amazing woman at the end of the book. It made my little heart so proud.

I really enjoyed getting to see more of Courtney, Violet's best friend, in this book. I can NOT wait for her and Drew's books! She's quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.

If you enjoyed Checkmate: This is War, the first book in this series, you are going to LOVE this second one. You get your happily ever after and all the feels that come with that!!

I'll be honest, I went into this book with hesitation. I was not excited to read about the pandemic and people being in quarantine. HOWEVER, this book was really good! This love story between these two characters, was really good! It did remind me of the horribleness of 2020, but in all the best ways.

Cameron & Elijah were both very solid, fun characters, that sucked you into their story. They were both witty, kind, sweet and fun-loving leads. This was an enemies-to-lovers trope, however that "hate" doesn't last too long, so if that trope isn't your cup of tea, I think you will still enjoy this! I also really enjoyed the animals/pets in this story, because they were big enough characters that we got to see their personalities come to life too!

These two have an intense, passionate love story that will leave you swoony and craving the second book in this series! I love that we got to know the character's that will be in book 2, even though it was all through phone conversations. Kennedy Fox really did some amazing story-telling with this book and couple!

There was one scene/instance that happened in this book that I wasn't too big of a fan of, but the way it played out was okay and didn't distract me from my love of the story. It all wrapped up very well, with my much-needed, giant bow of happiness! I highly recommend this book and can not wait for the second one!

Maize has been one of my favorite characters since the beginning and I was so excited to get to read her and Gavin's story! Normally I am not a big fan of the off and on/hot and cold tropes, but I think this one was done well.

Gavin is a former bull rider and Maize is the head chef at the B&B on the ranch. (side note: All this food talk, had me so hungry!!!) They have a one night encounter early on and Gavin is hooked from them on. Maize is a little more cautious and tries to run because of her past. Both these characters were swoon-worthy and had such chemistry together!

The steam, banter and humor in this book were top notch. I think this one was my favorite so far in the series. I am looking forward to Elizabeth's story, as well as Kenzie's!

I am really loving this series! I was very excited to read about Diesel & Rowan's story, after listening to the first book in this series. Their story had such a build-up to it and was full of tension! The authors did a great job, teasing us with their love story!

Diesel is a former playboy, who slept around a LOT! Rowan is an all-around girl-next-door type. She has great girlfriends and has just come out of a horrible relationship. Diesel has been in love with Rowan since he was 15 years old. Rowan is younger than him and just so happens to be his best friend's little sister. Riley, his best friend, has told him for years and years that he has to stay away from his little sister. This puts Diesel's love for Rowan out of a possibility. The good news is, Diesel will do anything to make Rowan his!

One of my favorite things about this series is the side characters that we fall in love with. I hope this series is a LONG one, because there are SO MANY new characters that I need their story. I can't wait to continue on in this series.

Steamy, Enemies-to-Lovers

Viola and Travis have a LONG history together. This story takes place in the present-day, but also includes several flashbacks and stories from their years of history, so we get a good amount of their backstory as well. These two have an almost volatile relationship in the present-day but have such a deep history of a mutual love for each other. This is definitely an intense enemies-to-lovers story!

Viola is an all-around nerd, who loves Harry Potter, reading and her school work. Travis is a self-acknowledged man-whore, who is also doing his best to further his career at work. Travis is best friends, and always has been, with Viola's older brother, Drew. Viola has grown up with Travis and when they were younger, they developed such a deep bond together - sharing their childhood/teenage years secrets and troubles. Viola overhears some hurtful words in her late teen years, thus triggering her new-found hate for the douche, Travis. Drew, Viola's brother, has also laid down a very stern rule about staying away from his little sister, to all his friends. This leads their lust/love on the back burner, for many reasons!

I enjoyed Viola as a lead female character, but Travis was not my favorite. He was an all-around douche most of the book. If you love a bad-boy lead male, then Travis is the guy for you! These two had a LOT of sexual chemistry that has been at the surface for many years now, which can only lead to an explosion at some point or another.

If you love a good enemies-to-lovers, bad boy story, then I recommend you pick this start of the series up! If you like a LOT of steam in your books, this is also for you!

I really enjoyed my listening experience with this book. I felt like it flew by and I was just along for a fun ride! Riley and Zoey had such chemistry, right from the start!

I loved the plot/trope of this book. I went into this without reading the blurb, so I had no idea what was in store for me. BUT the waking up married in Vegas trope is one of my favorites! I'm also such a sucker for a good farm/ranch setting in a book, so this one was a win/win for me! The Bishops may be on of my favorite book families i've read. I'll continue with this series, just because I fell so hard for this family! They really are such the idyllic family. Kennedy Fox nailed writing this family!

Diesel deserves his own mention, as he was such a big part of this book. I love his character - his sarcasm, feisty personality and his fierce loyalty to Riley. We also get a lot of sarcasm and banter between Diesel and Rowen (Riley's sister) and I really hope that was one big tease to them getting their own book soon!

This book was a feel good, fun ride that I would recommend for a great weekend read and start into what I hope will be another amazing series!

I really enjoy this series and was excited to finally get around to Kat's story. I immediately fell for Mac and his caring, spoiling and sweet personality. I also enjoyed Kat and her sass. I really enjoyed catching up with our past couples and the rest of the characters in this series! That is what made the book for me - other than Mac's charming ways!

What I was not a big fan of - the petty drama (however, they were very quick to resolve their issues and it didn't linger on) and the big, dramatic scene at the end. In my mind, that was completely unnecessary and made me roll my eyes several times. It wasn't even really that believable for me. If that had been left out of the story - they could have easily just gone another route and bypassed that whole part of the book, but still wrapped up that storyline.

I also was not a fan of the female narrator - it was almost as if she was always trying to be seductive, but it doesn't really work that well. Also, a lot of the time she'd whisper things, which made the book very hard to hear, even with the volume up loud!

Love Adriana Locke!

Let me start this off with I adore Adriana Locke and think she can do no wrong! I devour every single book she writes and I jump to start them immediately! Trouble was no exception.

I listened to this book on audio, which is the only reason I docked it a star. I couldn't stand the male narrator's portrayal of Penn. He made him sound like an elderly southern man, instead of a young man. I loved Avery's voice, but the male almost killed this for me.

Other than the narrator issue, I loved this book. I really fell hard for Avery's strong, sassy personality - but yet her tender heart. Penn is just the best, but I am glad we got to see a deeper side of him. I loved getting to know his back story, as well as his insecurities and fears. I think Avery and Penn complement each other very well and I almost wish I would have gotten more of their happily ever after!

As always, I highly recommend Adriana Locke's books!

I just don't know what to think of this book. There were moments that I really liked it, moments I shook my head a LOT and moments where I couldn't wait for it to just be over. There was a lot in this book that I didn't enjoy (the things the characters did or where the plotline went), but there were some things that I really did like.

I love Penelope Douglas and everything else I have read from hers, but I don't think the Devil's Night series is for me. Unless, the other books are way more calmed down, compared to this one.

Basically, I don't really know and I am just shrugging for what I think of this book!
