Historia
Doc Ebersole lives with the ghost of Hank Williams—not just in the figurative sense, not just because he was one of the last people to see him alive, and not just because he is rumored to have given Hank the final morphine dose that killed him.

An engaging & poignant story from start to finish
Revisado: 07-08-22
I have been a fan of Steve Earle's music for as long as I can remember. I recently discovered this book & purchased it on a whim. I went in completely blind to the storyline, but was hooked almost immediately. The subject matter hit harder now given recent events. There were several places in the story that I could've sworn I was reading a Stephen King book because the character development, dialogue, & storyline bore such a strong resemblance to what I know & love about a SK narrative. Steve Earle's gravelly voice is perfect for the telling of this gritty story about downtrodden characters down on their luck. And the few instances when a song plays & SE sings the lyrics, was literally music to my ears ❤️

Historia
After moonrise on the cold night of January 21, 1897, a mob of 25 White men gathered in a patch of woods near Big Road in Southwestern Simpson County, Kentucky. Half carried rifles and shotguns, and a few tucked pistols in their pants. Their target was George Dinning, a freed slave who'd farmed peacefully in the area for 14 years and who had been wrongfully accused of stealing livestock from a neighboring farm. When the mob began firing through the doors and windows of Dinning's home, he fired back in self-defense, shooting and killing the son of a wealthy Kentucky family.

History Brought to Life
Revisado: 12-19-21
This was a well-paced, detailed, & engaging historical account. The 'characters' in the story are presented as the dynamic, sometimes flawed, people they were in real life which added a depth & context to the story that made it even more enjoyable.

Historia
Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South - the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful - in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Easy to listen to, almost melodic at times. Story was engaging as were the characters.
