Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Russell’s performances?

They should have used a different narrator for this whole series. She USES A JERSEY SHORE ACCENT THAT IS TOTALLY WRONG FOR THESE BOOKS SET IN COLORADO. It must be her own accent slipping through and the director doesn't realize she has a New Yorker or Jersey Shore accent because that's where he's from too so he doesn't hear it and call her on it.

After all the negative reviews complaining about this narrator, you'd think they'd give us a different one, but it looks like they are not going to get rid of her, so WE SUFFER. The only people who aren't bothered by the inappropriate accent are people who actually have that accent. For everyone else in the US and Canada its extremely annoying and unattractive.

I love KAs books so I grit my teeth and suffer thru it. Sometimes at the really important parts I think to myself, how would my dream man say that line? so I pause the audio and say it again in my head with a sexy tone, husky pitch, and normal cadence. As I try to banish icky images of Joe Pesci or Danny DaVito from my mind and replace it with something much hotter. Needless to say, the male voices are just WRONG in so many ways. So the book is basically ruined because of the horrible, annoying narrator.

My advice: READ THIS BOOK INSTEAD, and don't buy or listen to any audiobooks narrated by Kate Russell.

Great Story but...

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The male narrator was fine, but the female narrator, Shayna Thibodeaux was just awful. Her voice was so grating to the ears I never want to hear it again. Ever.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Melanie's character/personality is totally unlikable and the narrator's annoying voice didn't help endear her. Why did King even want her? He deserved a better woman then that dumb skank. She was dumb right to the end, and I only wish she had died from the fall.

Any additional comments?

Still a great story and worth the credit, especially if you love Katy Evans books. I just wish she had written Melanie differently because I don't respect or admire her and she is a most unworthy heroine.

Any additional comments?

I feel like I was misled into buying this book. After reading all the rave reviews, I thought I had found a new author to read, but don't be fooled, her books are young adult, not contemporary romance. I really wish Audible would list these teen romance novels in their own Young Adult category because they mainly appeal to young people. They remind me of the Judy Blume books I used to read when I was sixteen. After reading a few chapters I rolled my eyes and skipped ahead to the predictable ending. If you're over 21 you'll expect more.

Mellow Cliffhanger

Any additional comments?

Typical Laurens novel.. but kinda gentle, slow moving, passionless, and anticlimactic. A mystery with a cliffhanger ending and a set up for the next book.

The interaction between the H/h could have been spiced up some with more flirting.. you know, smiling and glances and touches and demonstrated desire. Instead she kisses him out of the blue and instigates sex for no apparent reason. Each time. It was rather sad and pathetic really. They were so disconnected that I felt nothing for them as a couple.

I really liked Thomas' character in the previous book but Laurens turns him into a total a hole in this book. I actually hated him and wished he had stayed away in Glasgow. Around the second last chapter, he comes back and confesses all to her and she takes him back. its the first real communication between them, and the sudden intimacy is jarring. They are still strangers and not sure if what they feel is love. The ongoing mystery is left unresolved too. Then suddenly, they promptly marry, have sex and confess their love, all in ONE paragraph. They are quickly forgotten as the author sets up the next book. WTH?

I wanted to read this book because I love the Cynster family and want to see them all find love and happiness. That said, I don't want to read about every move a character makes described in slow, plodding detail. That's tedious, boring filler. I need substance. I need to see and feel the love and passionate connection between the H/h. Show me the love Stephanie Laurens.

On a side note, take a look at the male model on the cover of the book. I believe that's supermodel David Gandy, the most sinfully gorgeous man on earth. He was the hunky underwear model for Dolce&Gabana and much more. Google him! You're welcome.

What did you like best about Loving Rose? What did you like least?

After listening to the whole Cynster series I'm convinced that there are actually 2 different writers of these books. I haven't looked it up to confirm it, but when you listen to one after another you really notice the difference in writing styles.
Author A is more erotic and sensual with highly intelligent heros and heroines. There's plenty of stimulating conversations and sexy banter between the two. The hero is confident and always knows what he wants and what the girl needs.
Author B writes mystery novels with really boring or skimmed over sex scenes like the old fashioned regency romances. The heros are quiet, laid back, type B personalities and are basically clueless when it comes to females and relationships in general.
I'm glad Malcolm got his story and redeemed himself. I really wish this book was written by author A but Malcolm had lost his confidence and was so unsure of himself and his future that his personality now suited the writing of author B. Oh well, not my cup of tea, but the next book should be written by author A. After reading a B book, I appreciate the writing of author A so much more.

Have you listened to any of Napoleon Ryan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The other reviews complain about his voice but he actually did a fine job and his female voices were excellent compared to other narrators I've heard.

Any additional comments?

I love all of her others books but I hope she gets back to writing about these guys. I'm not sure why she stopped writing this series but these guys are so wild and crazy, so hot and sexy, their stories need to be told. Great cowboy erotica like this is rare. More please!

What didn’t you like about Jim Frangione’s performance?

Why use Jim Frangione?? He uses the same hard monotone voice for the narrative and every character in the book. I don't like the way he reads.. theres something harsh about the way he pauses and stresses each line. His voice and inflection are supremely UNSEXY. It doesn't suit a romance novel at all. He sounds like a 60yr old radio announcer or sports commentator instead of a hot sexy man in his twenties. Theres no smouldering sexiness or intriguing sensuality so I feel nothing for the characters. I love Lori Fosters books but this narrorator just ruins, butchers, and desecrates her writing. I want to fall in love with the hero but Jims voice just turns me off and makes me want to return the book and never buy another Foster book if hes narrorating it.
Lori please consider switching to someone like Freddie Bates for your future books.
