I think this is the best book in the series so far, Jason really comes in to his own. lots of fun murder and hijinks.

the worst

The narrators are great, but even they couldn't redeem this steaming pile of excrement. The only redeeming quality is the length, but that's also a negative given how painful it is to listen to. If you're doing some menial you can zone out to this I guess. It's actually impressive that a human being sat down and wrote 70 hours of something so uninspired and boring. The writing is incredibly disjointed, the main character is a braggadocios douchebag, and the story isn't even remotely entertaining.

if you're the kind of person that gets annoyed when hearing the same word used over and over and over and over and over, then be warned. I don't think this author knows the word "people" because the word "folks" is used and repeated so frequently it started sounding like nails on a chalkboard. seriously it's through the entire novel. it was bad in the first two books too, but this one takes it to a whole new level. like 5+ times in 5 minutes of listening multiple times.

prepare yourself for awkward erotica

if you come straight from the first book expecting more or less a similar experience, you might be a little disappointed. there is a ton of extremely awkward gay foreplay throughout. I'm all for some good erotica but this is not it. I was physically cringing through all of it. I'm not sure if it's just poorly written or the narration doesn't quite match the content. there's also a ton of the MC aggressively flirting with an underage character. their age is never explicitly stated but in the first book they were described as prepubescent.

I was hooked from chapter 1, it really doesn't get much better than this. definitely not for the pearl clutching types but it's considerably less explicit than other harem style series. most direct comparison I can make is the mask of the template series, minus the isekai plot. tess irondale, is amazing as always

I've listened through the entire series multiple times, not because i crank my hog to it, but because the story is great. definitely deserves more ratings. the closest comparison I can make is to the mask of the template series, except the crystal heart has significantly more spicy scenes.

save yourself the credit. idk how this got so many good reviews. I could get past the poor writing if there was something interesting going on. also the audio sounds like it was recorded on a cellphone.

Dollar store harry Potter

Narration is good once the guy settles down a bit, Jessica is always great. So far this series is a less well written harry potter knock off, but in this one harry is kind of a magical rapist. it's listenable enough.
