Overly focused on homosexual lifestyles and characters
Revisado: 01-28-25
I like the author’s plots and story lines, but I’m saddened and somewhat repelled and disappointed about how much the books increasingly focus on homosexual lifestyles and characters as this series continues. This focus just seems added to make the books politically correct, and I think definitely detracts and distracts from the overall story. Not sure whether I’ll continue with the series.

Disappointing ending to a very good series.
Revisado: 12-27-24
If this is truly the end of the series, as I believe I read, there are so many threads left hanging that it’s very dissatisfying. I feel like really nothing was finished or wrapped up at all.

Historia
When Maddie and Will get a message that dire wolves—huge misshapen changelings, much larger than regular wolves—have been marauding and attacking through the hills and valleys of Celtica, the Rangers are sent on a mission to unravel just who or what is behind these dangerous creatures. Will isn’t anxious to return to Celtica, especially approaching the Rift. And as they travel, Maddie must grapple with their growing dealings with the spiritual and supernatural. But they are Rangers—and they will do whatever it takes to accomplish their mission.

Disappointed with introduction of the occult here
Revisado: 10-14-23
I have loved all of these books, except for this one. John Keating still does a great job with narrating, but I was very disappointed with the story this time.
I wouldn’t want young children being exposed to occult imagery and wording. I hope John Flanagan will not continue with this direction into the occult, but will continue with more similar books as to previous episodes.

Historia
Several years have passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, first met, and Will is finally a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy - boring, even - until Lord Syron, master of a castle far in the north, is struck down by a mysterious illness. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is suddenly thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure, investigating fears of sorcery and trying to determine who is loyal to Lord Syron.

Historia
What does it mean to earn the silver oakleaf? So few men have done so. For Will, a mere boy, that symbol of honor has long felt out of reach. Now, in the wake of Araluen's uneasy truce with the raiding Skandians comes word that the Skandian leader has been captured by a dangerous desert tribe. The Rangers are sent to free him. But the desert is like nothing these warriors have seen before. Strangers in a strange land, they are brutalized by sandstorms, beaten by the unrelenting heat, tricked by one tribe that plays by its own rules, and surprisingly befriended by another.

Very Mediocre Performance
Revisado: 04-05-23
The story is fun and engaging as always. But I really wish the previous narrator, Eva Kaminsky, had continued narrating these additional books! Her acting skills are much more developed than the current narrator, Lauren Esso.

Fun story, poor narration.
Revisado: 06-21-22
This is a fun, sci-fi story, but the narration really detracts from being able to enjoy it! Most of it is not far from being a monotone. I will probably listen to the other books, but not right away, I guess just hoping they would change narrators to someone better.
