"This book is to be neither an accusation nor a confession, and least of all an adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it. It will simply try to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have escaped its shells, were destroyed by the war." Prologue to All Quiet on the Western Front.

Revisado: 05-06-24
Excellent story and narration. On October 29, 1965 while leading my platoon on patrol outside Ben Cat, Republic of Vietnam I encountered an antipersonnel device that put me out of the war. I had been in the Army a little over three years, and I believe my military experience added to my performance as a narrator. The version I published and am compensated for is also available on Audible.

A reflection on Mike Vendetti's reading of The Hol
Revisado: 09-20-23
"The Hollow Men," a poem by T.S. Eliot, dives deep into the disillusionment and despair that plagued society in the aftermath of World War I. In this review, I will explore the auditory experience of this timeless poem through the thought-provoking narration of Mike Vendetti. While maintaining a formal tone, I will analyze the impact of Vendetti's narration style on the overall atmosphere of the poem.
Vendetti's narration flawlessly captures the somber tone of the poem, immersing the listener in the desolation portrayed by Eliot's words. His deep, resonating voice resonates with the heavy subject matter, creating an auditory experience that lingers long after listening. The rhythm and pace he employs enhance the poem's reflective nature, allowing listeners to contemplate the deep existential questions it raises.
Vendetti's skill lies in his ability to inject just the right amount of emotion into Eliot's words. His soft inflections and pauses during poignant moments of the poem add depth and draw the listener's attention to the weight of the lines. Meanwhile, his rise in intensity during moments of realization provides an authentic portrayal of the poem's themes and allows for a more intimate connection with the listener.
With Vendetti's expressive narration, "The Hollow Men" transforms into a vivid cinematic experience for the listener's mind. His use of various tones and vocal techniques helps to delineate distinct emotional shifts within the poem. Each line is painted with a varying degree of emotion, captivating the listener and guiding their imagination through the imagery depicted by Eliot. Vendetti's narration brings the poem to life, capturing the essence of Eliot's intention.
Vendetti's consistent pacing makes the poem easily digestible. By giving each word space to breathe, he allows the listener to fully immerse themselves in the intricacies of Eliot's lyrical language. Furthermore, his impeccable articulation ensures that Eliot's complex metaphors and allusions are effortlessly understood, adding to the appreciation and comprehension of the poem's narrative.
In conclusion, Mike Vendetti's narration of T.S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men" effectively captures the poetic intensity, disillusionment, and introspection contained within the text. His skillful interpretation aligns perfectly with Eliot's intended atmosphere, drawing listeners into the despair and post-war disillusionment depicted in the poem. With nuanced emotional delivery and impeccable pacing, Vendetti weaves a compelling experience through his narration, ensuring that the timeless message of "The Hollow Men" resonates with modern audiences.

Historia
This short story is taken from Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit by Joel Chandler Harris. Uncle Remus is a collection of animal stories, songs, and oral folklore collected from southern black Americans. Many of the stories are didactic, much like Aesop's fables and Jean de La Fontaine's stories. Uncle Remus is a freedman who serves as a storytelling device, passing on the folktales like the traditional African griot to children gathered around him. Award-winning audiobook narrator and producer Mike Vendetti portrays the kindly old gentleman telling the story.

All titles except Gatsby are available free at Librivox.org. Gatsby is available under a different cover. The Narrator of Gatsby is excellent. The other narrators are voulenteers at Librivox. The production copyright for Gatsby refers to another publisher. The only narrator compensated for this production was paid under a different cover.
This is a rather creative scam. Pay a pro or the publisher that originally paid him for 5.5 hours of narration, then harvest 24.5 hours of Public Domain material and create a 30 hour audiobook and sit back and collect a 40% royalty on a $29.99 audiobook.

That's right FREE. Mark Smith the narrator spent a minimum of 70 hours recording this title where it is available on Librivox free. The title is in the public domain, and the publisher is within their rights to publish this title, but it burns me that Mark donated his talent and time to produce this audiobook only to have this publisher profit from his effort.
