One of the more unique stories from World War 2.
Revisado: 05-23-23
Not only informative but a great story about the end of World War 2. From the Battle of Iwo Jima, to the first use of atomic weapons in war, and the eventual end of World War 2 this book gives an insight into the last weeks and days of the war. This book also tells tales of friendship forged in battle and the extreme toll the loss of those friends takes on the men who survived. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in World War 2 history.

Historia
In 1942, America's deadliest fighter pilot, or "ace of aces" - the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker - offered a bottle of bourbon to the first US fighter pilot to break his record of 26 enemy planes shot down. Seizing on the challenge to motivate his men, General George Kenney promoted what they would come to call the "race of aces" as a way of boosting the spirits of his war-weary command.

This book offers in depth detail of air battles in the skies of the Pacific theater of World War 2 while also bringing the listener back down to earth with the adrenaline dumping realities of war and its effects on all involved. I would seriously recommend it to any warbird enthusiast and any World War 2 buff.
