Historia
To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There’s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: “Can I go inside your heart?” When horrifying incidents around the house signal that Other Mommy is growing tired of asking Bela the question over and over, Bela understands that unless she says yes, her family will soon pay. Other Mommy is getting restless, stronger, bolder. Only the bonds of family can keep Bela safe, but other incidents show cracks in her parents’ marriage. The safety Bela relies on is about to unravel.

Great story, very visceral.

The author’s depiction of mental illness and drug addiction feels authentic. The narrator really brings the brooding cowboy character to life and is a fantastic listen.

Very good
Revisado: 11-30-23
The author’s story is a great journey through the aftermath of life with fresh ideas on the subject. Horrifying and relatable.
The narrator is one of the best voices I’ve heard and made this story really come to life.
Reminded me of Berserk, Dante’s Inferno, and the imagery depicted by Doré.

Gritty gore filled story ruined by the worst narrator performance I’ve listened to. Emotionless blabber by a guy that sounds like a robot.

Historia
Amanda and Clay head out to a remote corner of Long Island expecting a vacation: a quiet reprieve from life in New York City, quality time with their teenage son and daughter, and a taste of the good life in the luxurious home they’ve rented for the week. But a late-night knock on the door breaks the spell. Ruth and G. H. are an older couple—it’s their house, and they’ve arrived in a panic. They bring the news that a sudden blackout has swept the city. But in this rural area—with the TV and internet now down, and no cell phone service—it’s hard to know what to believe.

It’s a good story and we’ll performed
Revisado: 10-06-23
I like the characters, the realism, and relatability that the author provides. The story feels very possible. The narrator does well giving a voice to the words and conveying the feeling of the overall story. This does however feel like half a book. Nothing is resolved, discovered, or survived. It’s the beginning scene of a conflict greater than the characters. A real slice of life.

This narrator -_-
Revisado: 01-05-21
So, I love this series. I love this author. I know that this narrator (Mark Bramhall) is trying here. His voices aren’t bad. His narration though....it’s just not to my liking. There’s no life in it. No razzle dazzle. He is just..reciting words and I don’t like it.
