Is there anything you would change about this book?

The editing is way off. The volume changes and it sounds like there are whole sections that were recorded later and then added to the book. It's distracting and ruined it for me.

Would you recommend Memory Man to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend the book. I would not recommend the audiobook.

What didn’t you like about Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance?

It's edited and mixed together poorly. Makes the audiobook unlistenable.

Getting back to a real Pendergast novel!

For the first time in a long while this book feels like a Pendergast book. The tone, story, and where it goes all work.

The book suffer a bit from too many POVs. Some clearly done on purpose only to up the tension and others feeling like filler, like whole section told from the view of drug smugglers.

In all The Obsidian Chamber is a step in the right direction and fingers crossed it means the series is finally getting back to what it was.

What would have made Uprooted better?

The voice actor (or the director directing them) made some horrible choices in how to handle the narration. It's not so much the accent but the odd stilted pauses between words. It's horrendous. DO NOT BUY THIS AUDIOBOOK without first listening to a preview of the narration.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Wise Man's Fear to be better than the print version?

Book two isn't as good as book one, but at the same time It's still better than 99% of the fantasy books out there. It leaves you wanting more (in a good way) and I can't wait to read Book 3. I just hope it comes sometime soon!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Name of the Wind to be better than the print version?

This series is a masterpiece and so far the first book is the star. It manages to do so much world building and character building without bogging down like a lot of epic fantasy books. For contemporary fantasy there is nothing better than Name of the Wind. If you like swords, magic, and other worlds this is a must read/listen!

Distracting Accent

Would you try another book from Natalie Lloyd and/or Cassandra Morris?

The story isn't bad and this is a good middle grade book but the narrator's accent is too over the top. The accent is more faux hollywood than real and as a result it ends up being more distracting than helpful. I'd recommend anyone interested to consider buying the ebook or print book instead. Also the "magic" in the story has a lot to do with words and this gets confusing because sometimes it's not clear if the narrator is referencing the actual prose or saying one of the "words" that appear in the story. I'm guessing in the print edition the words appear in italics or quotations but in audiobook form there is nothing to help them standout and thus it's just as distracting as the bad accent.

What made the experience of listening to The Martian the most enjoyable?

It's just a story about a guy on Mars and yet its so much more. This could have been a horrible depressing book, but it's fun and impressively paced considering all the science talk. It's also a story about society and about forming a community to try and save a single person. It's such a fantastic ride and you are doing yourself a disservice by not listening to it.

Would you try another book from Andrzej Sapkowski and/or Peter Kenny?

I love all the previous Witcher books but this one drags. Nothing happens to further the overall plot of the series nor is there any kind of character development. It's Geralt lost in the woods trying to get to Circi. That's it. You can skip this book and go directly to the next one. Even the action doesn't save the book because there is almost none in it. I was disappointed because it just doesn't compare to any of the Witcher books.

What made the experience of listening to Elantris the most enjoyable?

I've ignored this book for almost a decade. I figured it was Sanderson's first book so that there was now ay that it could compare to some of the master pieces he's since written. That was stupid because this is by far one of Sanderson's best books. The characters, the world, the world building, and plot are completely engaging. It doesn't drag and always leaves you anting more.

What did you love best about Cupcakes vs. Brownies?

My eight year old nephew loved it. We listened to it on long car ride and when it was finished he asked to listen again. It does a great job of not dumbing things down for kids while still being age appropriate.

What did you like best about this story?

The world was so different and fresh. I don't think I've ever heard "Candypunk" before.

What does Eric Michael Summerer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Eric does a great job of bringing all the characters to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a few times at Zimmah. He reminded me of a mix Scar from Lion King and the Genie from Aladdin.

Any additional comments?

Great Book!
