Revisado: 02-27-21
This historical fiction was written well and the imagery made you believe you were actually there with the characters.
The Narrator was perfect for this story. He reminded me of Sam Elliot.
All in all, everything came together that gave me a great reading experience. It is not very often when that happens. Now I can watch the movie and compare.

Last Jump Review
Revisado: 02-23-17
What made the experience of listening to The Last Jump the most enjoyable?
The narrator had a pleasing voice and I was able to listen without getting bored or without wanting to turn it off. The book was very long; however, it held my interest from beginning to end.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Jump?
The end of the story; after the secret was revealed. I enjoy reading about the Greatest Generation. They are the true heroes of all time.
What does Mike Ortego bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I felt like I was there being told the story by the characters. His use of different voices had a great impact on how the story was told.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no - it is long eighty something chapters and I listen to and from work
Any additional comments?
I loved it!

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

The Book Thief.

A French woman who sacrificed her life in order to make a difference for her country against the horrors of the Nazis during WWII.

Those Who Save Us
Revisado: 09-29-16
What made the experience of listening to Those Who Save Us the most enjoyable?
The narrator did an excellent job of keeping my attention. Her voice was smooth and not loud or boring. There were many different characters that she had to mimic and she was able to do so without losing the importance of the story. It was a rather long story but I never wanted to just give up and stop hearing the story. On some stories, I get tired of the narration and quit listening, but on this story, I was kept interested the whole time.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the story. I am very interested in the era of WWII because my father fought 1942-1945. Every story has a piece of information that helps me to understand the war and why my father never wanted to talk about it. I have come to learn of the atrocities that occurred with the books I listen to. The characters were believable and each had their own story to tell.
Have you listened to any of Suzanne Toren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me feel for everyone that was touched by WWII. I could relate to their stories even though I did not live through the times. The story touched on a very sensitive subject of women and how everything we do is for our children. I tried to imagine how Anna's life would have been if she had not had Trudy. Would she have made the same decisions? Also, I felt sad when the characters would remember when their family members or friends were killed. How they had to go on but 60 years later still remember like it was yesterday.
