Historia
Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

The story could be pretty good, maybe reading it from a book but I don’t recommend listening to it
Revisado: 03-03-24
After seeing this book on booktok and everyone talking about it, I decided to listen to take a chance. I listened to 18 minutes before I could not take it anymore with the readers’ voice both male and female. I pictured the men in the story as young men and the voice actor for the guys sounded like a 65 year old smoker and the lady’s voice made me grind my teeth. I wish I would’ve listened to the sample before using my credit to get this book because I could not finish it for the two months that it sat in my Audible list and then finally, I felt like I needed to. I feel like the story could have been pretty good, except the author makes the main character this overly bad-a** girl, which sometimes bothers me because no one is like that and you can’t just be invincible… the s*x scenes were pretty good but the voices ruin it for me .

Sooo much tension and build up! Loved it
Revisado: 06-04-22
A lot of people complained about the narrators but honestly I didn’t mind them at all. The female is a little monotone but it fits the character because she is a little cold and distant from people due to her upbringing and the guy narrator isn’t my cup of tea but wasn’t absolutely terrible ti me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I was worried at first because of it being a little taboo but they’re not related whatsoever so that made it easier to read but it was very hot and intriguing. Highly recommend!

I wasn’t sure how this was going to be because the characters are like 12/13 years old and definitely leans towards a younger audience BUT it was really entertaining and mysterious! The whole “what happened” “what in the world is going on” vibe of a “who done it” kind of book made for a great listen! The narrators were great too. I’m 31 years old and I enjoyed it even if it seemed like a young adult book - especially since the characters are so young . That’s the only thing that threw me off because what 12/13 year old is going to take an Uber alone? I just pictured the characters like 17 years old and it made more sense to me. I guess when I was on 7th grade I was still climbing trees verses making a video diary , being on Snapchat, social media and all the other stuff. Overall it was great :)

My first shifter book
Revisado: 10-16-21
Overall I would say that it’s a 3/5 stars and I feel like I’m being generous. The main character kind of turned me off in the sense that she was obnoxiously stubborn . I get it - she has to defend herself because she is latent but it had me rolling my eyes with her attitude . I feel like there could of been more character development - more descriptive writing - but I’m also partial to historical fictions and used to very descriptive sceneries and what not. I liked the idea of the storyline.
One thing that almost had me turning it off was something I feel like all the romance books add and it drives me crazy. I don’t want to say it but it’s very common in trilogies and series whether young adult or adult . Anyway this really wasn’t for me .

Not my cup of tea
Revisado: 08-23-21
Sooo I’m used to reading young adult books (I’m 31- grew up on Harry Potter , hunger games , mortal instruments, etc) and thought this would be a good series to try . Honestly , it’s not for me . I’m not into the whole girly, gushy, everyone is complimenting each other kinda books and that’s what this was to me . I could see other people likening it but it didn’t do it for me. I need more action- more storyline put into it . I felt like there could of been so much more description and build up. It was Very flat to me . I read all three because I couldn’t stop and not know - it would drive me crazy. Like I said not a bad book but definitely not for me .

Excellent listen - both book and narrator
Revisado: 08-01-19
My friend suggested that I read this book even though it’s unlike anything I read in general or listen -whatever - but I decided to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed that I did. Between the narrator and the story this was a great listen and I can’t wait (hopefully there is one )but can’t wait for the next sequel .. this was an enjoyable listen and it’s like humor with a little bit of scary but not really scary- if that makes sense .. highly recommended!!!

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

This was amazing !!! A must read for WW2 readers
Revisado: 07-08-19
I would consider myself a dedicated World War 2 reader. Most of the books that I have read or listened to have been about the Holocaust or resistance fighters during this time period. This was a new take on the war that I have never read. It’s about a mans journey to find a soldier that is pictured with his father in Okinawa. The soldier was never brought home to be buried and the author sets out to find his remains to bring him home to American soil. Except reading ! Excellent narrative! I love the interviews and phone calls and music ... just everything about this audible book. I couldn’t believe that this was one of the free audibles and I am so glad I downloaded it! I would say it’s worth the pay even if it’s not free anymore !!!

The author could be described as a veteran in every sense of the word, even though he was only age 21 when the war ended. Armin Scheiderbauer served as an infantry officer with the 252nd Infantry Division, German army, and saw four years of bitter combat on the Eastern Front, being wounded six times. This is an outstanding personal memoir, written with great thoughtfulness and honesty.

World war 2 from a different view
Revisado: 07-06-19
It was really interesting to hear and learn from a different perspective. I was so used to reading books about the Holocaust that I never really stopped to think what it was like from the German soldier’s point of view. It was overall a great story - a little slow in some parts - but very good. I would recommend this to anybody who is interested in WW2.

Excellent story
Revisado: 01-30-19
I absolutely loved this story ! The chemistry between the characters was so hot and intense... the narrators are perfect too .. if your looking for a good story with raw scenes look no further :) I gave the overall a 4/5 because there’s one thing that bothers me in books this “type” and it seems like they all end up with this .. and I can’t stand it .., I won’t say so I don’t spoil it but really that’s the only thing .
