Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. Bill and Kevin continue to discover new worlds; the population continues to rise; winter is approaching; and everyone has their own opinion about how things should be run.

Pretty much what I would expect
Revisado: 03-05-23
College kids trying to do right vs. a bunch of entitled jerks.
I liked the multiple pass voting, but would have preferred them starting from a statement of values. Much in the way the US Constitution relies on the Declaration of Independence, a statement of values would help to ensure a form of government that is heading in a known direction.
Still, it was clear from the initial contact with the Ashland community that they were not going to fit in.
If the story continues, it will be interesting to see if that lesson has been learned.

White noise
Revisado: 01-28-23
Story might be OK. Couldn’t tell because performance was so boring it just became background noise.

Success at last! Ahren and his companions have revived the alliance of the Jorathian peoples. But there is little time for celebration, for while the defensive ring around the Pall Cloud is being strengthened with Dwarfish assistance, Ahren and his friends are already on their way to answer the Wrath Elves' cry for help in the Forest of Ire, from within whose depths mysterious dangers are threatening to destroy the Elven forest and all life forms within it. Time is running out.

Erstwhile review
Revisado: 11-30-22
Good series. Editors should have caught the excessive use of certain words like erstwhile and earnest.

The story never slows down with enough turns to keep even the shortest of attention spans enthralled.

Everyone knows that if Scarlett O'Hara had an unlimited text-and-data plan, she'd constantly try to tempt Ashley away from Melanie with suggestive messages. If Mr. Rochester could text Jane Eyre, his ardent missives would obviously be in all-caps. And Daisy Buchanan would not only text while driving, she'd text you to pick her up after she totaled her car.

I guess I expected some level of humor. But this was just too tedious to listen to.

Historia
Neanderthals have developed a radically different civilization on a parallel Earth. A Neanderthal physicist, Ponter Boddit, accidentally passes from his universe into a Canadian underground research facility. Fortunately, a team of human scientists, including expert paleo-anthropologist Mary Vaughan, promptly identifies and warmly receives Ponter. Solving the language problem and much else is a mini-computer, called a Companion, implanted in the brain of every Neanderthal. But it can't help his fellow scientist back in his world, Adikor Huld, when the authorities charge Adikor with his murder.

One of the best what if's of all time
Revisado: 03-13-15
The world created is not only believable, but also technically possible and in most cases desireable. Some areas are a little different (driverless cars!). A thoroughly enjoyable novel. The other two parts are equally engaging.
