Historia
Clare’s daughter, Joy, is immersing herself in the foodie culture with an internship at Solange, one of New York’s hottest French restaurants - and she’s getting pretty intimate with the older, married Chef Tommy Keitel as well. Clare’s not buzzed about the relationship, but what twenty-something takes romantic advice from her mother? Resolved to keep a closer eye on Joy, Clare makes a deal to micro-roast and French press exclusive coffee blends for Tommy, a man she wouldn’t mind seeing roasted and pressed.

best book of the series
Revisado: 12-21-22
I really love this book in the series. More than the previous books, this one is complicated, interesting, surprising, and has thoughtful character development. My only complaint is how the author repeats the phrase "the man" in every book, it's very distracting. Possibly it's the fault of the reader? otherwise, I love the accents from the reader, and I live in LA so NYC feels like an adventure for me.

great story, but audio issues persist
Revisado: 05-03-22
in a couple of places, memorably chapter 12, the book skips back and repeats. quite annoying. audio quality is just OK. Difficult to hear. otherwise, a great read.

love this reader!!!
Revisado: 03-31-21
I found this book via another book that was good solely because of the audio performance. it's a great story that few could pull off. She nails the 1940s classic detective Rex Stout vibe.

All suspense, no breaks
Revisado: 07-11-20
This book was hard to listen to because it felt like it was constant suspense, no breaks. The characters are selfish people gossiping about each other constantly to the point where I hated all of the characters because no one ever told the truth. Super annoying. I felt like I was tied up in knots trying to follow it because everything seemed SO IMPORTANT to the story. Turns out only a few clues even mattered anyway, and it felt like a let down at the end. I love this author but now I know why my library doesn't carry this one!

Just couldn't get into it
Revisado: 07-11-20
I am a fan of murder mysteries and audiobooks, but this one just didn't have the right pace for me to stay interested in it. That, and it took so long into the book for the murder to take place that I thought I'd bought the wrong book! I love the formula of murder mysteries, and this didn't follow it, and that's what I wanted.

Historia
When an Argentine math student discovers the smothered body of his landlady, conventional wisdom points to a family member with the most prosaic of motives. But then renowned logician Arthur Seldom, author of a book on the mathematics of serial killers, tells of a strange note left in his mailbox. The note indicates that the murder is the first in a series linked by a mysterious pattern. Each new death is accompanied by a different mathematical shape.

I read a lot of books, particularly murder mysteries. This one described every female in a smarmy, creepy, sexualized manner that detracted from the otherwise iinteresting read. Unfortunately, it ruined the book for me as I am a woman, and not particularly interested in hearing how female breasts are pleasing to the narrator, outside of any meaning for the plot. It interrupted my interest in who-did-it.

Historia
Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

Cute and fun, but a little too corny
Revisado: 11-02-16
Good story, believable characters, unexpected twists. The corny romance I skipped through, but not bad.
