Historia
After a night of fun back in 1992, Abby is responsible for a car crash that kills her beloved brother. It's a mistake she can never forgive, so she pushes away Liam, the man she loves most, knowing that he would eventually hate her for what she's done, the same way she hates herself. Twenty years later, Abby's husband, Nate, is also living with a deep sense of guilt. He was the driver who first came upon the scene of Abby's accident, the man who could not save her brother in time. It's this guilt, this regret, that binds them together. Then, Liam moves into the neighborhood....

Unsuspected twists
Revisado: 07-05-24
I love the narrators and the cohesive, fast-paced storyline. The characters are 3 dimensional. Most of all, the ending threw me for a loop. What fun! I listen to this genre constantly, and this book is the only instance where I couldn’t predict the ending. I’ll be listening more of this author.

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Wow, this must have been written by AI. Nothing happens. No personality. One dimensional. Okay, it’s free, but don’t waste your precious time like I did.

Historia
Annabel, Esther, Tanya, and Chloe are best friends—or were, as children. Despite drifting apart in adulthood, shared secrets have kept them bonded for better or worse, even as their childhood dreams haven’t quite turned out as they’d hoped. Then one day they receive a wholly unexpected—but not entirely unwelcome—invitation from another old friend. Poppy Greer has invited them all to her extravagant bachelorette party: a first-class plane ticket to three days of white sand, cocktails, and relaxation on a luxe private island in the Bahamas.

Terrific story and narration
Revisado: 04-05-24
This author is at the very top of the genre for psychological suspense fiction. Truly stellar, I hated that it had to end and am crushed that this is the author’s only book. I can’t wait for another. She’s better than all of the famous suspense authors I’ve read and listened to. A must read for lovers of the genre.

Historia
Rosie and Chad Lowan are barely making ends meet in New York City when they receive life-changing news: Chad’s late uncle has left them his luxury apartment at the historic Windermere in glamorous Murray Hill. With its prewar elegance and impeccably uniformed doorman, the building is the epitome of old New York charm. One would almost never suspect the dark history lurking behind its perfectly maintained facade.

The narrator
Revisado: 03-26-24
Vivienne Lehaney is my favorite narrator. She is so talented, does so many voices and does men so well. I listen to everything she has narrated. Lisa Unger is obviously very intelligent and knows how to put together an unputdownable thriller. I’m not a fan of the paranormal, but she us a master at the domestic psychological thriller that is perfect for a long car ride, house cleaning, and errands, but the underlying intelligence of her novels resonate and are not geared toward listeners satisfied with ordinary junk

Historia
Blair Martin’s days rarely vary: she gets up, goes for a run, and then heads to work at a Manhattan literary agency where she nurtures authors through the publishing process. Her nights, spent alone in her too-large apartment, are similarly predictable. Then on an ordinary Wednesday, Blair enters her office building and spies a lost wallet. When Blair tracks down the owner, they arrange for a simple exchange. But the young woman, Maya, seems so vulnerable, much like Blair’s own daughter, Faith, who died tragically just last year, and Blair is unable to simply walk away.

Confusing ending
Revisado: 03-24-24
I lived the narrator and story, but when it ended I did not know what had happened. “I don’t get it,” my friend said, after listening with me. “Me neither!” I agreed. Nevertheless, I love this author in novel length books.

On a brisk fall night in a New York apartment, 35-year-old Billie West hears terrified screams. It's her lifelong best friend Cassie Barnwell, one floor above, and she's just realized her infant daughter has gone missing. Masterful! Addictive!
Revisado: 03-20-24
This author is smarter than her genre. Masterfully crafted psychological fiction of the highest order. The narrators were sublime. The only problem I had with this book is that it ended. I’ve listened to everything Carola Lovering has written and I wish she could write more, faster!

Historia
Marlena Altizer Durst lives in her husband's shadow. He controls her every move - what she wears, the food she eats, and the friends she's allowed to make. If she disobeys, there are...consequences. And he has all the power. To outsiders, it seems that she leads a fairy-tale life. But nobody ever wonders if Cinderella was happy after she married the prince. Marlena has traded freedom and safety for luxurious imprisonment, and most days, that seems like a bad bargain. Death may be the only exit she's allowed. Just like his first wife. And his second. Unless she flips the script.

Great narrator
Revisado: 10-27-23
If you like throwaway thrillers, this is just what you need when you’re driving or cleaning the hose. It’s standard fare done well. If another narrator took this on it may have been awful. I’ll be looking for this reader again.

Historia
The year is 2013 and the Greenspans are the envy of Brookline, Massachusetts, an idyllic (and idealistic) suburb west of Boston. Scott Greenspan is a successful physician with his own cardiology practice. His wife, Deb, is a pillar of the community who spends her free time helping resettle refugees. Their daughter, Maya, works at a distinguished New York publishing house and their son, Gideon, is preparing to follow in his father’s footsteps. They are an exceptional family from an exceptional place, living in exceptional times.

Historia
Authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to be twin rising stars: same year at Yale, same debut year in publishing. But Athena’s a cross-genre literary darling, and June didn’t even get a paperback release. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena’s death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena’s just-finished masterpiece, an experimental novel about the unsung contributions of Chinese laborers to the British and French war efforts during World War I.

Revisado: 06-15-23
I wish this author would write more books in this genre. I see her other books are fantasy, but this was so stellar I’ll have to try one. I had to listen to this nonstop all day long. Superb novel, superb narrator. I’m going to look up the narrator as well. Perfect!

Predictable but fun
Revisado: 06-10-23
The narration for the character Sabrina was weird—she had a clipped, snotty voice and I don’t understand how anyone could tolerate her let alone seek her out as a friend. As written, she’s a sociopath, so it’s not believable that Jake fell in love with her. The narration for the voices of Jake and Molly are superb. Its hard to believe that both were the voice of a woman. All in all it was well-crafted and better than average, gossipy and girly and fun. I like this author and look forward to her next book
