Historia
It is the most famous military installation in the world. And it doesn't exist. Located a mere s75 miles outside of Las Vegas in Nevada's desert, the base has never been acknowledged by the US government - but Area 51 has captivated imaginations for decades. Annie Jacobsen had exclusive access to 19 men who served the base proudly and secretly for decades and are now aged 75-92, and unprecedented access to 55 additional military and intelligence personnel, scientists, pilots, and engineers linked to the secret base, 32 of whom lived and worked there for extended periods.

Massively researched and masterfully assembled
Revisado: 04-28-25
This superbly and carefully laid out research pulls back the veil of REAL history behind decades of paranoia and speculation often manipulated by governments in the name of national security and the ongoing, driving need for oneupmanship. Having been the subject of a US government disinformation campaign surrounding the F117 and B2 stealth bombers while serving in the military, it was a relief to see the truth of so many programs finally laid out with evidence and logic. The sad realities are that conspiracy theorists will dismiss the research and answers, and the vast majority of citizens will still never know what really happened and why, in essence tacitly allowing Need to Know programs to continue down their often ambiguous and sometimes immoral paths.

Historia
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Great story holding the conclusion to the very end

Great performances, Great story. however far too much profanity. Just because such language is sadly real doesn't mean it elevates the performance.

Historia
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

brutal, gasping story
Revisado: 10-29-24
I couldn't finish this book. Simply put, the narrative was well researched and extremely detailed. It's amazing that humanity survived through the brutality and ignorance of the 18th century at all. Equally frustrating was the unedited narrator with every breathy gasp left intact, with the listener becoming audibly exhausted.

Twisted Time Story
Revisado: 10-20-24
Often overly brutal, sometimes meandering with lots of plot twists, overly long, and ultimately unsatisying with a fuzzy ending designed to set up the next book, but I won't waste any more time.

Historia
When a rogue military faction in China kidnaps a CIA case officer, global tensions ignite. Desperate to forestall the looming firestorm, the United States deploys an elite team of Navy SEALs to rescue the agent, protected by nothing but their training and a single pilot providing air cover from his FA-18E Super Hornet—normally, it wouldn’t be enough. But these aren’t normal times…and this is no ordinary pilot.

Current and Taut Thriller
Revisado: 09-11-24
It is rare to read a well-crafted thriller that also accurately portrays naval and aviation culture and lingo. You can tell that Jack Stewart has been there, done that when it comes to the realism of situations, scenarios, language, thoughts and feelings of his military characters. However, I yearn for the day that I can choose to hear such an intense story without all the profanity. A multi-level rating system and corresponding reading performances would be most welcome!

gripping story marred by over-the-top violence, gore and profanity.
Revisado: 08-22-24
As much as I enjoyed the protagonists and was thoroughly frightened by the realistic portrayal of cutting edge tech and politics, I was continuously dismayed by the crude profanity, and slasher-esque brutality that was not necessary to detail the story. One begins to wonder if movie-like ratings would be helpful for such books, and possibly even offer different versions of the same story acceptable to different audiences. One can wish anyway.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Frustrating Twisted Tale
Revisado: 04-15-24
The performances were well done but sometimes hard to hear through the background sound affects. Far more frustrating was a Sherlock who was truly heartless, arrogant without morals, and a Moriarty who was uncharacteristically committed to and by love was nonetheless the actual hero of this twisted tale. Not recommend for those like me, who want to maintain a valued standing of heroes even in fiction, perhaps especially in light of historical characterizations.

Well Played!

Well written with lots of fun Twista even if the last 6 chapters were fairly predictable. After all, nobody should want a hero to fail at the end of a 3 book story arc! So prepare to be very satisfied.
