Poorly assembled storyline
Revisado: 12-07-21
While the reader is very dramatic in her performance, the story itself is incomplete and childish in the ramblings of the lead character. Incomplete thoughts run rampant throughout, though to be honest, I didn't actually finish the book. Far too frustrating for me, which is rare. I'm usually very patient with storylines.

This is Leadership
Revisado: 01-03-21
Extremely well written book on sports leadership. I don't think that was her intent, but that's truly what it amounts to. The personal story of a leader in an internationally growing sport that America needs more of. Kudos Megan!

Your mom probably told you it's what on the inside that counts. Well, then she was never a competitive figure skater. Olympic medalist Adam Rippon has been making it pretty for the judges even when, just below the surface, everything was an absolute mess. From traveling to practices on the Greyhound bus next to ex convicts to being so poor he could only afford to eat the free apples at his gym, Rippon got through the toughest times with a smile on his face, a glint in his eye, and quip ready for anyone listening. Beautiful on the Outside looks at his journey.

Great message, poorly read
Revisado: 06-18-20
The message is spot-on, as far as I could listen. Unfortunately, the author reading his own work reads it as if it were poetry, in a start-stop fashion that's frustratingly jarring. The message is lost in the delivery. I would buy it again & listen to the whole thing if they hire a better reader.

Historia
Nearly six hundred years ago, a short, genial, cannily alert man in his late 30s took a very old manuscript off a library shelf, saw with excitement what he had discovered, and ordered that it be copied. That book was the last surviving manuscript of an ancient Roman philosophical epic by Lucretius—a beautiful poem containing the most dangerous ideas: that the universe functioned without the aid of gods, that religious fear was damaging to human life, and that matter was made up of very small particles.
