A fun read

It broke down a lot of cultural differences between each generation. It had lots of definitions of words from each generation too.

Historia
Young Hiram Walker was born into bondage. When his mother was sold away, Hiram was robbed of all memory of her - but was gifted with a mysterious power. Years later, when Hiram almost drowns in a river, that same power saves his life. This brush with death births an urgency in Hiram and a daring scheme: to escape from the only home he’s ever known. So begins an unexpected journey that takes Hiram from the corrupt grandeur of Virginia’s proud plantations to desperate guerrilla cells in the wilderness, from the coffin of the South to dangerously idealistic movements in the North.

Absolutely Marvelous
Revisado: 10-02-19
I felt as if conduction had overtaken me throughout the entirety of inhaling this art work. The spirit of our ancestors spoke out through Ta-Nehisi, and I can only wish that someday my books shall be as powerful allowing our ancestors to do the same through me. #RootsYouths.com. Very Well Done, Mr. Coates. Thank you for this blessing.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

You Are My Survival, My People
Revisado: 09-20-19
Those who know it/feel it will have the spiritual insight to respect and appreciate the depth of this eloquent artwork. The others of ‘white eyes’, no matter their skin complexion or nation of origin, will attempt to discredit all that Ta-Nehisi, I, and our people experience momently being born and raised in this country which was founded on and, is still today, upheld by terrorism at the hands of ‘white eyes’!
You Are My Survival knowing Africa, black man, woman and child are the first and last humans to walk this earth. It was a pleasure reading this book as it makes my heart sing songs of both struggle and positive energy. Rootsyouths.com Blessings and power to my beautiful people. I couldn’t be more proud of the one drop rule and I’m grateful my blood and heart is filled with many more.
