I am so confused
Revisado: 06-23-24
I don't understand what happened. The first two books were so incredible, but this book was a dumpster fire. It feels like someone else wrote it. Nothing about this book made sense. Diem's logic-no sense, situations-no sense, arguments-no sense, dialog- no sense, her response to Luther-no sense. There were huge flaws/holes in this book. I am at a total loss, I have never wanted to stop a book so many times but I kept going because of my utter love of this series and I believed it absolutely had to get better. But seeing all the positive reviews leaves me almost speechless. Like did we read different books? Diem has so much potential but this book she never listens, makes insanely stupid choices, does not grow, whinys. She is supposed to be this all powerful queen but they lets her mother control/berate her???? Her mother has terrible character development, there is almost zero redeeming qualities about her. I am just so heart broken what happened???? And the "spice" was so uncomfortable and poorly timed. It was always so awkward and at the worst time. This is the first book I have actually just fast forwarded through it. It was awful. This can not be the same author. This should have been a masterpiece. I don't think I have ever been so let down by a third book.

What happened to this series?
Revisado: 01-23-24
I’m so confused how this series got so bad. The first books were so amazing. Why do we need 85 POVs? Tori and Darcy chapters were really had to finish they both just wine and felt betrayed. I just don’t understand what I just read. This has so much unnecessary filler. Filler that did nothing for the story. I’m just really sad.

I seriously can’t do this series anymore. A teenager is hired to recover a billion dollars? Um ya no. I swear she is bipolar every time she gets close to one of the guys she suddenly wants to slow down ... she doesn’t then yet .... she doesn’t want it only be sex ... idk it’s really annoying. Then you have her being the boss of a team? I just can’t. Don’t bother with this series it’s truly absurd.

Historia
In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

Im not sure what to make of this one
Revisado: 12-13-17
Would you try another book from Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington and/or Vanessa Moyen?
I loved the narrator! She did an amazing job. Im not sure I would read another book from these authors.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It was very anticlimactic, it just kind of ended.
Could you see Trickery being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I don't think this would make a good show.
Any additional comments?
I think this story had some really great ideas. An interesting premise. However if you removed every time the author wrote sun cycle, moon cycle, life cycle, my legs got wrapped around my sheets, I then face planted into the ground, I found myself be caught out of the air to keep me from hitting the ground, you would be left with a book that is an hour long. It was so repetitive it completely took away from the story. Every other page Willa tripped and hit the ground. I can appreciate clumsiness but it was ridiculously over written. The entire book Willa spent either on the ground or in a characters arms. I'm not sure how this became so popular. It was a missed opportunity

So disappointing. The leads were impossible to like. The writing is super repetitive and predictable. The narrator was horrid. All the male voices were the same. Only reason I finished it was because I spent a credit. Not sure how this was so popular.

What just happened.
Revisado: 06-29-17
I am so disappointed. Waited so long for this to come out and it did not live up to the first book.
Half the book was restating what took place in Beautiful Ashes. I'm not sure what happened to ivy. I spend most of her dialog rolling my eyes and thinking really? Couldn't stand her sister Jasmine. She was so annoying and really took away from the story. Every time Zack showed up it was the exact same thing. Ivy was pissed at him for taking so long and keeping "truths" from them. It was very repetitive and most things that happened were super obvious.
Only good thing about this book was Adrian. You really got a great look into who he is. Only reason I kept reading. If he wasn't in it I would have stopped half way through. I am super bummed.

Historia
The most important rule for an Apprentice Consul is simple: Don't get involved with daemons. Well, Piper is planning to break that rule - big time. After a near-deadly scandal with the Sahar Stone, she has the chance to return to the only life she's ever wanted. All she has to do to keep her Apprenticeship is forget about Ash and Lyre. Ash might be enigmatic and notoriously lethal, and Lyre might be as sinfully irresistible as he is irritating, but they're not bad for a couple of daemons.

Revisado: 08-26-15
Where does Bind the Soul rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love this series. The chemistry between Piper and Ash is amazing. Annette does awesome job of sucking you in, I was hooked immediately. By then end I was a little disappointed, I don't think the second book reached its potential.
Have you listened to any of Jorjeana Marie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I was so disappointed when I saw Jorjeana was narrating this one too. I had a horrible time with the first book. She was so nasally. BBBUUUTTT I need to apologize to her, the sinus infection was finally gone! I think she did a great job. I look forward to listening to book three with her!!!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I in fact did listen in one sitting. I woke up early on my day off so I could start it and canceled a family dinner so i could finish it....... (sorry mom, I couldn't help it)
Any additional comments?
*** Spoilers****** Beside loving this book I think it did have some issues. In my review of the first book I noted I wished it wasn't a YA book. I didn't see Piper as someone under 18. She just wasn't a believable teenager. She seemed closer to 22-24. I have to say I believe that even more now. I think if Annette would have pushed into New Adult or Adult it would have been GRAND SLAM... There was so much drama/action/suspense that you missed out on Piper and Ash. They were apart for most of the book, which I think hurt and slowed down the story. When Piper goes to rescue Ash it takes FOREVER and every fight scene was drawn out to only find themselves in a new fight. I wish that the action was cut down and filled with more Piper and Ash. Their chemistry is off the charts and it doesn't really get explored. Neither one of them say a word, not ONE word about caring for the other. Which seems crazy, Ash should have killed Piper in the last book. But he doesn't, he controls himself around her. She calms him when nothing else does. Yet they don't talk about it at all. Never even comes up... Then we have the ending.... I HATED it. This majority of this book is trying to save Ash or trying to save Piper. The battle is finally over, it is time to leave and Piper wants to stay and go to school????? Seriously! Then all Ash does is say "you sure?" Piper says yes. Then BOOM he leaves. Just like that. Gone. Piper literally went into HELL to save him, then is like eh school sounds better????? Absurd. This is another reason why I don't think YA works. Piper is almost killed a dozen times, Ash "dies" a dozen time, all of this is brushed off so she can go to school???? WTF just happened :/ super bummed. How about I love you and can't be without you!!! Makes no sense to me.

Bravo!
Revisado: 08-26-15
What made the experience of listening to Chase the Dark the most enjoyable?
I loved this book. It had it all action, suspense, love and was ORIGINAL!!!!! Which can be hard to find. I have never read a book like this. The characters were relatable and the chemistry was on point! I was very worried that it was going to be love triangle, which I am so so so sick of, but to my relief this was not the case! If you are reading the reviews to see if you should purchase this book stop now, like right now and just buy it. You won't be disappointed.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Chase the Dark?
I don't want to spoil it but I will say the ring fight between Piper and Ash..... I was cheering!
What didn’t you like about Jorjeana Marie’s performance?
Aw this was a hard one for me. She was so nasally, seemed like she had a sinus infection the whole book! I didn't mind her male characters, I didn't hear it as much, but Piper was almost unbearable.
Any additional comments?
This is just my own personal thoughts which will have some spoilers but I have to say I had a hard time with this book being YA. Not because of content, but I just didn't believe Piper being someone who is under eighteen. She is still in school which thank god is only mentioned in the beginning. An apprentice consul who is 17??? I just didn't buy it, her fighting skill level, how she handled problems and her thought process, she was in an underground fight ring at a fetish club, being arrested. Pretty much anything that was happening I had to stop myself and be like she is a teenager, really? I feel like her character would have been better as a 22-24 years old. Ive never felt this way about a character either, in all of my YA book but to me it just didn't work. I also HATED how she reacted to finding out Ash stole the stone, it just went on and on and on. I understand it was a betrayal but he had done so much to prove himself. I was over it. You knew he had a good reason for taking it and he gave it back to her! He took it before he really knew her and stuck around to save her! He could have bolted but didn't. He stayed so cut him some slack. Stepping off my soap box now......
