Historia
In a shabby house, on a shabby street, in the new capital of Madrid, Luzia Cotado uses scraps of magic to get through her days of endless toil as a scullion. But when her scheming mistress discovers the lump of a servant cowering in the kitchen is actually hiding a talent for little miracles, she demands Luzia use those gifts to improve the family's social position.

Mysterious and Dark
Revisado: 06-03-24
I like how this book opens to the reader slowly, like a flower blooming. It’s steady but remains mysterious as the story unfolds. I really enjoyed this book, the main character Luzia feels very real, she is likable but self interested and follows her own intuition in a way that makes the whole book really satisfying! I’m looking forward to listening to and/or reading some of Bardugo’s other books now.

After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom.

Christ Jesus, this book is Amazing!
Revisado: 08-13-23
This is a beautifully complex political story with real heart! If you've looking for a long and emersive listen which has excellent tension and can transport you to a different world this book will give you what you want! The reader is fantastic and very easy to hear. I have difficulty hearing and I had no issues listening to this even at work where we have lots of loud equipment. This has been one of my favorite books of all time on audible (or otherwise)!

The one thing you never talk about while you’re in the Scholomance is what you’ll do when you get out. Not even the richest enclaver would tempt fate that way. But it’s all we dream about: the hideously slim chance we’ll survive to make it out the gates and improbably find ourselves with a life ahead of us, a life outside the Scholomance halls. And now the impossible dream has come true. I’m out, we’re all out. We saved everyone. So much for my great-grandmother’s prophecy of doom and destruction. Ha, only joking! Actually, it’s gone all wrong.

Fantastic Conclusion!
Revisado: 04-03-23
I love the way the author shows us the cost and balance of magic in this last book! Twists abound and it honestly was much better than I expected. I enjoyed the first two books but the conclusion was way more epic than I had imagined!

Twenty years ago, you met Luke Danes...backward cap, plaid flannel, pouring the coffee. For the VERY first time, Scott Patterson (aka Luke) is watching Gilmore Girls. 154 episodes and 4 movies. We'll visit Stars Hollow, Doosey's Market, Miss Patty's, Mrs. Kim's antique shop and more pop culture references than you can count. Join us whether you're Team Dean, Team Logan or Team Jess. And, we'll see if we can figure out "who's the daddy". We'll talk fast, and if you can smell snow, if Paris isn't just a city in France, and Friday night dinner is a requirement... you don't want to miss this. ...

Revisado: 03-16-23
After finishing the Gilmore Girls series I was just obsessed and I wanted more. Luke has been my favorite character since episode 1 and when I discovered this podcast I was so stoked! Scott is hilarious and I’m so grateful to have a reason to start the series over and see his reaction to watching it! I couldn’t be happier, the Podcast is SO GOOD!! You guys are hilarious and she’d light on really interesting details of the show/cast.

Historia
From the best-selling author of Kafka on the Shore comes this rich and revelatory memoir about writing and running and the integral impact both have made on his life. Equal parts training log, travelogue, and reminiscence, this revealing memoir covers Murakami's four-month preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon. Settings range from Tokyo, where he once shared the course with an Olympian, to the Charles River in Boston, among young women who outpace him.

Historia
FitzChivalry - royal bastard and former king’s assassin - has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire. Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past...and his future.

Love Robin Hobb Hated this Narrator!
Revisado: 12-04-22
I adore the Realm of the Elderlings books by Robin Hobb and I’ve read all of them and enjoyed nearly all the audiobooks. If you are a fan of the Fool read this book yourself and skip the Audio version, this narrator’s voice for the Fool is so awful it completely ruined the audiobook for me! I’m currently reading this series to my Husband so he can experience the end of these books we both love and be spared hearing the Fool’s voice being butchered… lol

Mary Stewart's stunning Arthurian saga that began with The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, and The Last Enchantment continues with The Wicked Day, the story of the clash between King Arthur and his bastard son, Mordred. Born of an incestuous relationship between King Arthur and his half-sister, and prophesied by Merlin to kill Arthur, Mordred is stolen away from his mother and raised in secrecy by a kind couple on an isolated Orkney island in the hopes that he will defy his fate.

I was nervous going into this book knowing it is from Mordred’s perspective and fearing Joe thing will end. It is ultimately beautiful and I need not have feared that I wouldn’t enjoy this journey too! If you enjoyed the Merlin Trilogy you will love this also!

Better than I expected!
Revisado: 03-06-22
This audiobook was a joy! I enjoyed the story and the reader is an absolute master. Every character feels completely distinct and when he voices Dandelion it floors me every time. My boyfriend and I both cried tears of joy when he started to sing. We're powering through the whole series joyfully now.
I enjoy the contrast between the character moments and the action and I'm glad its not just fighting. The pacing is excellent. The way the author describes gestures pulls you into the story and makes you feel like you're really in the scene. When there is fighting it keeps me engaged even though that is generally not my favorite part in books.
I'm not surprised these books were adapted into video games and a tv series. Listening to these stories makes me want to make art.
