Historia

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Glad I heard this story
Revisado: 12-27-20
Great story. The best memoir I’ve read this year. I liked it so much that I heard it twice. The recording is well done. I also saw the movie, also great. I read that the movie was not like the book, I desgarre. While the movie does not contain the side explanations by the author, on the socioeconomic or politics os the Appalachia region that the book has, the family story is intact. I highly recommend both.

Historia
In The Case for Trump, award-winning historian and political commentator Victor Davis Hanson explains how a celebrity businessman with no political or military experience triumphed over 16 well-qualified Republican rivals, a Democrat with a quarter-billion-dollar war chest, and a hostile media and Washington establishment to become president of the US—and an extremely successful president.

Wow - So much information, excellent work
Revisado: 07-17-20
Hanson did a good job of retelling a story we lived through in real time but that perhaps many had forgotten, or at least had forgotten many of the details. I have read a few books that talk about the elections of 2016 and about Trump, not all flattering to the President. This book in particular, other than an accurate account of the facts, it contextualizes the sentiment of the American people and the actions that previous administrations, the politicians, the media and Hollywood took to create the atmosphere that brought upon Trump’s presidency. This is a book that merits attention. The author is an experienced Historian, an academic and from what I can see, honest in his work. Unlike other books on the subject, Hanson explains he is a conservative from the get go, he also explains he had never met MR. Trump, giving him a certain clarity in his observations from a distant, while still having a framework to make such observations. I highly recommend this book. The audio in particular is a great read.

What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

The Best book I’ve. read since the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, in the Self Help category.
Revisado: 11-28-18
This is the type of book that is produced out of a lifetime of asking, learning, researching and practicing these principles. Peterson has a way of organizing and grouping ideas and giving them names. He clarifies a lot of things by going to the origins of ideas and pointing out how they are playing out today and what they can become in the future. He gives the reader tools to intérprete society as a whole and individually. He doesn’t give you the meaning of life, but he teaches you how and why we should strive to find it, and gives you a path to seek for it. My overall favorite read of 2018.

Historia
When their last outgoing flight is cancelled, Ben finds a charter plane that can take him around the storm and drop him in Denver to catch a connection. And when the pilot says the single-engine prop plane can fit one more, if barely, Ben offers the seat to Ashley, knowing that she needs to get home just as urgently. And then the unthinkable happens. The pilot has a heart attack, and the plane crashes into one of the largest stretches of harsh and remote land in the United States.

The book is 10 times better than the movie!
Revisado: 11-15-18
I heard Charles Martin at a conference last week. He spoke about this book. I’d seen the movie and it was okay. The book though, is 10 times better. There are important components that the movie does not cover, which is common in movies. Ben’s character is much more flushed out in the book, the guy is something else. He isn’t superhuman, but a true man of character. These men do exist though, I know men like that, and I am sure everyone knows men like that too, men who are strong with their bodies, and strong with their principles. Loved the book. It surprised me. I highly recommend it!
