This is a nice introduction to mindfulness. It was free which is the only justification I have for getting it, but Audible... Virtual Voice? Seriously? AI reading should never ever be an option for an audio book.

Historia
Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

Covoluted and Overblown
Revisado: 01-03-24
This was my first Coben book, and I'm pretty sure it will be my last. While written beautifully and performed brilliantly by Scott Brick (as always), the story got very convoluted quickly, and the ending wrapped things up in such a fast way that I had more questions than answers. I'm pretty good at suspension of disbelief, but this whole story completely falls apart when you start asking basic common sense questions. I've seen "too dramatic" as a running theme in other reviews, and that is a very fair assessment, but overall there is just way too much going on and practically no reason for any of it. There's lots of flash with zero substance.

Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much.

Great Start, Lots of Speculation
Revisado: 01-13-22
I was enthralled for the first couple chapters, but then it got tedious and relies very heavy on speculation, minutiae, and exhausting details that weigh the whole thing down. There are lots of better unsolved deaths/murders that have been written. Listen to them, not this.

Paxton never thought he’d be working for Cloud, the giant tech company that’s eaten much of the American economy. Much less that he’d be moving into one of the company’s sprawling live-work facilities. But compared to what’s left outside, Cloud’s bland chainstore life of gleaming entertainment halls, open-plan offices, and vast warehouses...well, it doesn’t seem so bad. It’s more than anyone else is offering.

A Not–So–Unbelievable Future
Revisado: 07-12-21
What's so great about the story is how relatable and not–so–outlandish the premise and everything else is. The main characters are flawed in very natural ways which is real refreshing and detours from clear cut archetypes. If I had a complaint, I guess I would have liked more closure on several things at the end, but nothing made me upset about it. It's certainly worth the credit for sure, but definitely get this if it's on sale or a 2–for–1 deal.

A lot to digest but very helpful
Revisado: 06-12-18
The best review I can give is that this book is very honest in its delivery. It cites all its studies and research and is very compelling with its findings. I am definitely better for reading it as I now have a vast knowledge of how the body reacts to dieting, fasting, and exercise and confidently and proudly state it has helped me lose weight too.
It does get frustratingly repetitive though. There is a lot of information to process, and while it's understandable as to why, it really takes its sweet time getting to "the point" and the "how" to losing weight. I believe part of the extensive repetition may be because it can get pretty boring and needs to reaffirm its message.
If you are serious, and I mean REALLY serious, about losing weight; this is the book to read. If you're looking for a quick fix though, it certainly is not here.

Historia
Prosecuting attorney in the Manson trial Vincent Bugliosi held a unique insider's position in one of the most baffling and horrifying cases of the 20th century: the cold-blooded Tate-LaBianca murders carried out by Charles Manson and four of his followers. What motivated Manson in his seemingly mindless selection of victims, and what was his hold over the young women who obeyed his orders? Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

Fascinating and Terrifying
Revisado: 06-12-18
Despite being over 26 hours long, Bugliosi paints an incredibly clear and riveting account of the Tate–Labianca murders and Manson's outrageous family. You would think at some point, it would get a little long in the tooth, but every detail pushes the narrative forward in a remarkable way. It also goes without surprise that Scott Brick's performance brings a depth and cold reality that unquestionably makes this a must listen.

Historia
Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Really James Franco?!
Revisado: 02-07-18
Okay, the book is great. No arguments there. But Franco sounds like he’s reading the phone book. This is an Academy Award nominated actor and college instructor? I’ve heard better readings from a Speak & Spell.

Historia
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

For Carrie fans, not SW fans
Revisado: 12-11-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Carrie Fisher is an intriguing person to say the least, but she goes off topic a LOT in this book. She tends to take a very long and out of the way stroll to answer a simple question. Usually the trip is insightful, but often it feels like rambling rather than story telling.
Would you ever listen to anything by Carrie Fisher again?
The best part about Carrie's delivery is how genuine and real it sounds. I almost believed she was vamping off the cuff rather than reading. This may be why it often feels like she's rambling, but there is a charm to it.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Carrie Fisher and Billie Lourd ?
Billie Lourd was a refreshing break, and I actually really enjoyed a lot of Carrie's poetry. There was no insight into Star Wars whatsoever though.
Any additional comments?
If you're here for Star Wars, keep walking. If you're here for Carrie and the roller coaster that is her life, maybe still keep walking.
