“Then...” is the second audiobook in the series that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to, and I have to say that it’s just as amazing or maybe even more so than the first. The character and world building from the first book, “Wham,” are continued in this story, but are ramped up with even more action. With the aboveground Earth made toxic by the greed of others, the Greenwood family is split apart and have to cope with matters both above and belowground. Humans, trolls, elves, fairies, sorcerers and witches are among the cast of characters, both good and bad. It’s mind-boggling, really, how the authors can take a multi-genre dystopian, time travel, fantasy, adventure, drama, love story and fold in a believable storyline and make it all work, but they do so extremely well. And the narrator’s tone and use of different voices for the characters really brings this story to life. I loved “Then...” and can’t wait for the next installment!

“Grumpy Gus Meets Santa Claus” is a wonderful story that puts the true meaning of the season into perspective for children and adults as well. Like the other books in this series, the audiobook comes with a pdf so children can follow along with the narration. The illustrations and story work well together, and the narrator has a nice voice that’s appropriate for a children’s book. I love this series, and I hope Mr. Lewis writes more!

In “Grumpy Gus Loses His Shoes,” the chimp, Gus, learns a valuable lesson about remaining calm when he’s trying to find his shoes. I enjoy this series because the solutions are always something a child can put into practice. I also like the free pdf, and the signal/pause on the audio that alerts the child to go to the next page. As in the first book, the story, illustrations, and narration work really well together. This is a nice addition to my library. I recommend this and the first book in the series, and I look forward to the next one!

Grumpy Gus is a character most children can relate to, especially if they are dealing with a difficult situation in their own lives. I especially enjoyed how a solution is not only presented but worked through to a favorable ending. Including the pdf version was also helpful, so children can read along with the narration. I really enjoyed the illustrations and how well they matched the words on the page. Along with a great story by Mr. Lewis, the narrator, Mr. Fleischmann, did an excellent job switching between voices and speaking clearly so young children can easily follow along. I loved this story and am glad to have the audiobook and pdf versions in my library. I highly recommend “Grumpy Gus Beats the Blues” to children of all ages, but especially those who might have a challenge to overcome.

Wow! I love reading physical books and wasn’t sure if I’d like audiobooks. But, out of curiosity, I thought I’d try the audiobook for an e-book I’ve already read and enjoyed. I’m so glad I did! As I learned when I first read "Wham!", I thought it was a typical dystopian tale, but I was so wrong. The themes of corruption, power, and greed reveal themselves as this multi-genre story unfolds. And although the cast of characters include humans, fairies, trolls, elves, and the like, they are completely believable, and I found myself relating to them despite the fact that many aren’t human. The audiobook for “Wham!” was even more of an adventure. The narrator was amazing, easily switching between different voices and sounds to make the already well-written story come to life. I absolutely loved Maxi. What an endearing character! And the above and underground world building the story involves was even more interesting with the addition of this skillful narrator. Not only did this version take this story to the next level in my imagination, but it got me hooked on audiobooks! I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
