The year is 1929. As the world teeters on the brink of a global recession, Bletchley Park plays host to a rather special event. MI5 is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and a select band of former and current employees are gathering for a weekend of music, dance, and heavy drinking. Among them is Sir Hilary Manningham Butler, a middle-aged woman whose entire adult life has been spent masquerading as a man. She doesn't know why she has been invited, but it is clear she is not the only one with things to hide.

Historia
January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she’s never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.... As Juliet and her new correspondent exchange letters, Juliet is drawn into the world of this man and his friends - and what a wonderfully eccentric world it is.

Luscious listen
Revisado: 11-21-17
When I first read about the unusual construction of this book I did not think I would like it but truthfully there just wasn’t anything else that looked appealing so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did! My requirements for fiction is that the language is clean and the sex is left totally out. It really is not so much that I am prudish, it is just that I don’t enjoy reading about that. Also, I want to be entertained by lightheartedness. If I want something depressing I will turn on the news.
This book meets my requirements perfectly. It is not meant to funny but it will make you smile. The narration is great. There are some references to WWII which are unpleasant but these are an integral part of the story and not overdone in my opinion.
I highly recommend this book.

Good story, characters well developed. Excellent narration. There was no sex and no bad language. There was also no graphic violence. In other words, perfect cozy mystery. Searching now for the next book in this series,

I loved Sue Townsend's Public Confessions of a Middle Aged Woman so I bought this book thinking it would be good too. Perhaps I am a prude but I just don't enjoy vulgar (see you can tell my age) language, particularly when it is injected just for the shock value. Th narrator was fine I just could not finish this book , did not suit my taste at all.

Most folks associate the city of Salem, Massachusetts, with witches, but for Lee Barrett it's home. This October she's returned to her hometown - where her beloved Aunt Ibby still lives - to interview for a job as a reporter at WICH-TV. But the only opening is for a call-in psychic to host the late-night horror movies. It seems the previous host, Ariel Constellation, never saw her own murder coming.

This was my first book by this writer and it was most enjoyable. My favorite genre is the Cozy Mysteries but they can seem to be all the same after a while, but not this one! It is a most refreshing change of scenery and script. I highly recommend this book. Also the narrator is perfect!

Fantastic
Revisado: 07-09-16
Where does A Killer Plot rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Number 1
What did you like best about this story?
Elderly Adams is the most original writer in the Cozy Mystery genre I have come across. I am now on the last book in this series and not a single one disappointed me. Unfortunately most books in this genre are very similar, not this series.
What about Karen White’s performance did you like?
This series might not be as good without the outstanding performance of Karen White. Her voice and inflections match perfectly what I would expect the heroine in this story to sound like. She does a wonderful job.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes

Enjoyed this book
Revisado: 05-13-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It is a easy, light read and funny as all get out.
Have you listened to any of Peggity Price’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I have not listened to her before but I will be on the lookout for her, I really enjoyed her enthusiasm and the smile in her voice.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Take out the trash, honey
Any additional comments?
I tried listening to the second book in this series but could not stomach it. This is supposed to be a cozy mystery...in other words, no four letter words. It should be listed in the cheap romance category. The second book is not worth your time.
