I should start this series from the beginning....
Revisado: 05-15-19
Convergence is the fourth book in Five Roads to Texas series. I haven’t read the previous books and I feel like you do need to read the previous 3 books to fully understand the story. I wasn’t entirely sure what was going on and I felt like it jumped around a bit and left me confused. I actually listened to the audiobook twice just to make sure I hadn’t spaced out and missed something. I think each book is about different sets of characters so this can be read as a standalone, I just felt like I didn’t get to see the whole picture because I didn’t read the first couple books.
I enjoyed the narration. That’s what kept me listening to the book and I’d listen to another book narrated by Andrew B. Wehrlen.

A Decent Start, I'd Pick Up The Next Book
Revisado: 03-28-19
I wanted to read The Frost Kingdom for two reasons:
1. The Cover! Is it not gorgeous?
2. I tend to read mainly romance and I’ve been wanting to branch out to other genres so I figured pretty cover + audiobook + genre I don’t really read would work for me.
The Frost Kingdom is about a young princess and a baker both who were cursed. One can turn things into flowers and the other who can turn things to ash. Princess Lavina is tired of her curse and wants to find a witch who can reverse it and she enlists the help of Alice (the baker) and Kian (baker and thief). This sounds amazing right? The plot wasn’t executed that well but it was pretty decent start to the series.
What I Liked:
+ Obviously the cover! It is so eye catching.
+ The Narrator – some reviews will tell you that the other voices made for the other characters were annoying. I however, really enjoyed them and actually made me like the audio a lot.
+ The Romance – the romance was a nice touch and it was honestly a bit surprising. I did feel like the author threw it in at a random time so I felt like this could’ve been woven in a bit better. It did leave me curious about it.
+ The Ending – the ending was honestly the saving grace for this book. It felt like the novel was finally getting its gears going and I wanted to know what happened next.
What I didn’t:
+ The pacing of the story. It felt like a whole lot of nothing happened through the novel. It was also repetitive. I felt like the character kept saying the same things over and over again.
+ It left me with so many questions, maybe they’ll be answered in the next book but I felt like some of my questions should’ve been answered in the first book just so that it could have a solid foundation.
Overall,
I did enjoy the narration and the story finally started picking up at the end. I would read the second book, would it be a top priority? Probably not. I do see potential in the story and I am curious to see how this continues.

I really enjoyed the narrator for Mangled Hearts. I actually liked her better when she was narrating Cade’s part.
I enjoyed the slow build up of Francesca and Cade’s relationship although I wouldn’t necessarily call it a relationship. I liked the flashbacks that really gave me a feel for their connection.
I was often frustrated with Cade because I wasn’t sure why he was the way he was. I felt like we didn’t really get to explore much about his past in the book, it was touched on but not fully explored. Perhaps it’s explored in the next book of the series.
I did find Francesca to be really insecure but I do understand why because of the bits and pieces we saw of her relationship with Cade.
There were a couple things that bothered me for example some of the dialogue was a bit childish. I felt like Cade and Francesca were in high school the way they were talking. I am no lawyer but some of the legal stuff didn’t make any sense to me. And there were some inconsistences throughout the story, the age of Cade. One part he was older than Francesca and the next they were in the same grade. Another was Zander’s profession; he was a paralegal in the first chapter then at the end he was working towards his license.
For me, it felt less of a new adult book and more of young adult novel. It was sweet but not steamy. It was a bit of fluff for me and not the real heartbreaking experience I was hoping.
But I will look forward to continuing the series to see how it continues.

I have to say that the one thing that made me want to request this was the cover. I have never read a novel that involved horses and was really curious to see how this would turn out.
The storyline was definitely unique. I wouldn’t classify this as a YA novel because the main character just graduated high school. I would say it’s like that middle ground of YA and NA minus the sexy times.
I loved the writing and the narrator did a great job of bring the story to life. I felt all the emotions that July was feeling because the narrator did such a good job of expressing them throughout the story.
I loved how the story focused on the family, horseracing and training of the horses. It was definitely a unique approach to the novel and I liked it. I loved how you could go into the novel without knowing much about horses or horse racing and you had a basic understanding about the training and everything that goes into the horseracing world.
As horrible as this may sound, I enjoyed the fact that the dysfunctional family included the mother leaving and not the father. I’ve read a ton of novels where the father runs off and it gets tiring because mothers do it too. I really liked the fact that it included the mother not being around it showed a different perspective for those who have gone through it.
Stay The Distance was definitely unique and I would read another book by the author.

I really loved the narrator for Devil Dog and the whole concept of the world was very interesting. I did feel like it lacked a little backstory. I wasn’t sure if this was a first book in the series or if it was a continuation of another book.
I really enjoyed Dick’s character and was rooting for him the whole time. I really thought the world building was good but could’ve used a little more history so I could really get the big picture.
I’m not really into apocalypse books but I actually enjoyed this and if there is a sequel I may just pick it up.

The story was definitely interesting but for me the narrator really made this story for me. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by Meghan Kelly.
The story was bit cliché abusive husband, pregnant wife and he suddenly ends up dead. I’m pretty sure that was a CSI MIAMI episode. I thought for sure the killer was obvious, I mean everything else was cliché how could I not know who the killer was from the very beginning. But the author was able to throw in some twists to really keep you on your toes.
I thought the story could have been better developed. I felt like the author missed opportunities to really add mystery to the story and so it wouldn’t have been so cliché. I felt like things were a bit rushed and disjointed, I’m still not sure how we got from point A to point B.
Missed opportunities really hurt this story for me but the narrator was great.

Prove Me Wrong was an audiobook I was looking forward to. The synopsis and the cover really captured my attention and I was really curious to see how this story was going to unfold.
The story is about Hailey who is a teenage mother to a one-year-old named Brady. She moves to a new town to escape the bullying she experienced in her school because of the fact that she’s a teen mom. When she arrives to this new town her mom advises her to not tell anyone she’s a teenage mother because she doesn’t want people to look at her differently and treat her differently. I had a lot of problems with keeping Brady a secret. My friend Mel brought up a good point about maybe the area the story takes place in doesn’t have a lot of teen moms and so the bullying would be bad so keeping her child a secret would be a good idea. I however, grew up in an area where teen pregnancy was just normal. Our high school had a daycare, if a girl became pregnant it was just a shrug and she was just another bump in the hall. No one was ever bullied as far as I ever saw. Trying to see the different perceptive was just really difficult for me because I am a teenage mother and I couldn’t imagine pretending my son was my little brother.
I thought the story was a bit rushed; Hailey and Luke were head over heels for each other really early on in the book. I felt like that could’ve taken a bit more of time. The author however did a good job at developing their relationship and I did feel like it was sincere and it really grew despite how rushed the beginning was.
I think I liked Luke more than Hailey and felt like I could relate to him more despite the fact that both Hailey and I are teenage mothers. I felt like he was real. I loved how caring he was with Hailey, Brady, his coworkers and CJ. I really enjoyed CJ the most and was left wondering if we’d ever find out about him and Roxy because I really want to read that.
I felt the end was also rushed and could’ve been developed a bit more. I thought the author had a good concept for the novel. I’d probably read more of her novels at some point in time.
The Narrator for Prove Me Wrong was Julia Farmer. I really liked her voice and she read both points of view well. I actually preferred her as Luke than Hailey but that could’ve just been because Hailey frustrated me. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by Julia.

I’ve noticed that I tend to lean towards mystery, thrillers and fantasy when it comes to audiobooks. I’m not 100% sure why I can’t just sit and read the books but I enjoy listening to them.
A Patient Man began pretty decent. I was intrigued to see how the story was going to unfold. I felt like in the beginning there was a lot of information being dumped to build up the story. I found myself not reaching to finish the audiobook; I could go days without listening to it because I felt like I didn’t really need to know what was going on.
Towards the beginning, I had predictions about where the story was going. Unfortunately all my predictions came true, I wanted something that didn’t turn into a classic cliché that I had seen in the movies, on TV shows. I wanted something completely different. I thought the author had good ideas, it could’ve been an original story with the way he had initially set things up but he then went to the straight way and it ended up being pretty cliché.
I was pretty happy with how the story was wrapped up. At first, I was thinking this was going to be a cliffhanger type of story but that didn’t turn out to be the case. He really did tie up lose ends and left everything answered and I really liked that.
The narrator was really good. I felt like his voice added to the story were some areas where lacking. I would listen to more books narrated by him.

Moral of the Story: No sleeping with brothers.
Revisado: 04-08-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I think this book is for people who are into taboo romances between brothers and a girl. It is not my taste of books and I wouldn't recommend it if they aren't into that genre of books. However, for those who are into these types of books I would recommend because they may enjoy it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Terry Towers again?
I am not sure I would listen to anything by Terry Towers and I would have to see what other books she writes to decide if I will read any more of her books.
What does Meghan Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Meghan Kelly really helped bring the story together. If I had read this story I probably would not have finished it. However, while listening to the story I felt like it brought a little more to the story and really pushed me to finish it. I would definitely listen to more books narrated by Meghan Kelly.
Did What Happens in Vegas... Doesn't Always Stay There inspire you to do anything?
What Happens in Vegas...Doesn't Always Stay There only really taught me that it is best to not sleep with twin brothers because a lot of drama will occur.

Would you listen to Devil's Creek again? Why?
I would definitely listen to Devil's Creek again. I would probably listening to it after listening to the first book. I felt like I missed a couple things by starting with book two instead of one.
Which character – as performed by Gwendolyn Druyor – was your favorite?
I really enjoyed every character by Gwendolyn Druyor. She was great at changing her voice for each of the characters. I thought that's what made the narrator amazing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was totally taken by surprised by the events that occurred in the book. I thought Gwendolyn was great at keeping up with the suspense. It kept me hooked from beginning to end.
