Supposed to be Mystery and Thriller
Revisado: 09-06-23
It was a reasonably decent story line, but this book should have been in the romance section as there was almost as much sex and love interest as there was real story. I would not recommend it as a true mystery book. It was seriously miss labled.

Historia
Detective Dave Robicheaux’s world isn’t filled with too many happy stories, but Desmond Cormier’s rags-to-riches tale is certainly one of them. Robicheaux first met Cormier on the streets of New Orleans, when the young, undersized boy had foolish dreams of becoming a Hollywood director. Twenty-five years later, when Robicheaux knocks on Cormier’s door, it's to ask about a young woman he found who’s been crucified. She disappeared near Cormier’s Cyrpemort Point estate, and Robicheaux, along with young Deputy Sean McClain, are looking for answers.

Another great book from James Lee Burke
Revisado: 01-20-19
When you listen to or read a James Lee Burke book you are transported into the story. He describes in full detail the scene that is happening at the moment without being tedious or boring, completely immersing you in the action you are surrounded by the story and the characters. His characters are real and well developed, you can read one in the series and know their history without pages of detail. Will Patton is a great reader and one of my favorites. In my mind he is Dave Robicheaux and there should be no other reader. He reads Burke's novels like they are written, in descriptive prose with inflections to match. I am not going to go into the story that is what the previews are for, except to say that it is another great James Lee Burke story. You will not regret spending the credit.

This book is not about American Pharoah
Revisado: 05-13-18
This book is about the racing industry, not about the horse. What was written about American Pharoah the horse could have been put in ten pages and lasted 36 minutes and not 8 hours. The written intro on Audible is very misleading. If it were not free, it would definitely not be worth a credit.

Historia
Before John Glenn orbited the Earth or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as "human computers" used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets and astronauts into space. Among these problem solvers were a group of exceptionally talented African American women, some of the brightest minds of their generation.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This is a historical narrative of the struggles of the African American people and of three women who were instrumental in the first landing on the moon. If the book were the actual story of these three women it would have been a very good book, but there is so much about the struggles of their race that their story gets lost. I would hope that the move is better. I am seriously thinking of returning the book.
What could Margot Lee Shetterly have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Actually tell the story of these three exceptional women.
What three words best describe Robin Miles’s voice?
Can't think of any
Was Hidden Figures worth the listening time?
NO

Much better than some reviews stated
Revisado: 11-17-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book it was well written.
What did you like best about this story?
The pace of the story was fast, it did not get mired in unrelated ideas.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator was not the best that I have listened to, but was not nearly as bad as some of the other listeners seemed to think. Their reviews of this narrator almost made me not get the book, I am glad I took the chance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but there are very few books that I really want to listen to in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
This book is worth the credit. There is no real reason to not get it just because the reader is not your favorite.

Matthew Corbett Novels
Revisado: 02-04-13
Where does The Queen of Bedlam rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The Queen of Bedlam would rank in the middle of the audiobooks that I've listenen to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matthew Corbett was my favorite character because he is driven to find the truth and goes all out to do so even if it means putting himself in danger. I think that his character should "man" up though and make his role as avenger more realistic.
What about Edoardo Ballerini’s performance did you like?
Edoardo Ballerini makes the characters come alive.
If you could take any character from The Queen of Bedlam out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I would like to take Matthew Corbett to dinner and explain to him that being an unassuming guy is ok, but in a pinch and in grave danger he should know how to defend himself and those he is helping realistically instead of like a scared girl.
Any additional comments?
It is a good listen. I did like "Speaks the Nightbird" better than "The Queen of Bedlam" but would still recomend the book.

Historia
Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Historia
At Mile 81 on the Maine turnpike is a boarded up rest stop, a place where high school kids drink and get into the kind of trouble high school kids have always gotten into. It’s the place where Pete Simmons goes when his older brother, who’s supposed to be looking out for him, heads off to the gravel pit to play “paratroopers over the side”. Pete, armed only with the magnifying glass he got for his 10th birthday, finds a discarded bottle of vodka in the boarded up burger shack and drinks enough to pass out.

Revisado: 04-06-12
As always Stephen King has a twisted spin on a story. I'v not listen or read a book by him that I did not like. His story line is just left of center enough, and as syfy goes, just maybe could be believable as real. Great author!!
