A more or less full cast production of the novel set against the backdrop of Jeff Wayne's wonderful musical score. I have the original version of Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds Musical Drama, and at first I missed Richard Burton as the Voice of the Narrator, but Michael Sheen did a wonderful job, as did the rest of the cast. I felt I was there in several spots. Very well done, very much enjoyed, very highly recommended if you're looking for a one sitting listen. And even if you're not.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

As a standalone book, no. As part of the series, yes. With reservations.

What could David Baldacci have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

A bit more depth, less rush. The historical aspect that made the previous books so enjoyable was virtually absent. What there was felt like a token effort. I'm not sure what constraints Mr. Baldacci was working under and how they affected the end product, but I wouldn't have minded a longer story that took the time to develop things more. There were other events in the story that seemed either token or...well, convenient...but as I can't go into those without giving away plot details, I'll refrain.

Which character – as performed by David Pittu – was your favorite?

Amy. And David Pittu has done an outstanding job with both series. Each of his characters is distinct and original.

Do you think Cahills vs. Vespers, Book 6: Day of Doom needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, I think reactions, emotions, and consequences need to be demonstrated. Perhaps more ebooks by Clifford Riley to bridge the gap between now and the start of the next series this fall.

Any additional comments?

I'm puzzled as to why Chapter 40--which is in the ebook version I have--is missing from the audio version. The narration goes directly from the end of Chapter 39 to bonus material and literally left me hanging. It was very jarring and disappointing. I thought I'd accidentally hit my player and advanced forward. Can or will a corrected version be made available?

If you could sum up New York to Dallas in three words, what would they be?

Beyond excellent. INTENSE.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yep. I kept wanting to know how she was going to top each situation that happened.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

In this one...Roarke. And I was glad to see more of Dr. Mira.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. Wasn't possible, but I would have if it had been.

Any additional comments?

Do NOT buy the abridged edition, this is an incredibly important book in Eve's development, and you shouldn't miss a second of it.
