Historia
When a chance encounter sparks an unlikely bond between rival murderers Sloane and Rowan, the two find something elusive—the friendship of a like-minded, pitch-black soul. From small-town West Virginia to upscale California, from downtown Boston to rural Texas, the two hunters collide in an annual game of blood and suffering, one that pits them against the most dangerous monsters in the country.

Great narration
Revisado: 04-07-24
Ahem… wellll… this was not my typical genre, but I’m definitely not mad about taking a chance on something new. Serial killer friends to lovers, extreme spice (woah), dom/sub content, graphic gore, TONS of triggers, but also somehow charming and endearing? I don’t know how the author managed, but I gotta say it works and not only works, but was extremely enjoyable. I would highly recommend the audiobook version. The dual POV is effortless and flows like two people in conversation and not at all like a script. A+ for the narration and acting.

Enriching experience of the misunderstood

While there were a few small discrepancies in the text in comparison to the legends/mythology, I surprising didn't mind whatsoever. The enlightenment of this character, the other gods and goddeses, the landscape, and immortal heros did not disappoint. I cannot wait for the sequel.

WHHHHYYY?
Revisado: 06-24-16
I'm sure that in the 11th century, this laird was probably considered a peach to be married to.... however, I cannot wrap my head around the sexist and overbearing and callous manner in which he treats his wife. It kills any enjoyment I might take in their SECONDS of happiness and really just blahs out the "romantic scenes." He doesn't appear to be a "fixer-upper" either. I'm 6 hours in and he's still as dismissive as in the beginning. I'm done with this one. Who wants to be bedded by an asshole? Certainly not I and I don't want to read about one either. BLAH.

Historia
Magic, adventure, mystery, and romance combine in this epic debut in which a young princess must reclaim her dead mother’s throne, learn to be a ruler - and defeat the Red Queen, a powerful and malevolent sorceress determined to destroy her. On her 19th birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa.

Couldn't get past the narrator
Revisado: 08-11-15
Would you try another book from Erika Johansen and/or Katherine Kellgren?
erika johansen - yes. Katherine Kellgren - no.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I have no clue. After 30 minutes I stopped listening
Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Kellgren’s performances?
no.
What character would you cut from The Queen of the Tearling?
?
Any additional comments?
I've heard such good things about this story and was looking forward to the audio. I am highly disappointed that the narrator was so intolerable. Weird fake over-zealous British accent with shrill misplaced stress = a no go for this avid reader. Such a shame.
