Historia
I have no intention of being anyone’s bride, let alone fighting tooth and nail to get there. All the vicious catfights in the school nauseate me. I have bigger things to worry about, like being hunted by my father, who’s getting closer every day. Yet no one leaves me alone. The princes believe I’m playing hard to get, so they pursue me fiercely. When they realize that I’m not as ambitious or smitten as the other girls, they place a bet—whoever claims my virginity takes it all.

Slow...
Revisado: 03-22-24
The books have a good storyline, it's just that it moves SO slow that they all feel like filler books and when the action really starts the book ends.

Suspense. Action. Love. Christ
Revisado: 10-20-20
I pray that Colleen Coble continues to write books like this, and I can't wait until #3 comes out in April 2021. This book hits all the marks for me, and I love that Ms. Coble works real relationship with Chris into the book without overpowering readers who may desire to have a story without it. What a great way to plant the seed!

Slow read, disappointing narration.
Revisado: 09-23-19
I almost gave up in Chapter 35. I kept waiting for the crescendo, and never found it.
Having enjoyed Jennifer Ikeda's narration of the first 3 books I was very disappointed with this narrator. I don't think she's really a bad narrator, but it's kind of like watching a series for 3 seasons and then in the 4th season the main character is switched out for a new actress and the producers expect you not to notice. The voices were all different, and somehow Matthew seems like a whipped puppy not a formidable vampire in this book.
I hope that Jennifer Ikeda is available to narrate the next books.

Historia
The Bird children have an idyllic childhood: a picture-book cottage in a country village, a warm, cosy kitchen filled with love and laughter, sun-drenched afternoons in a rambling garden. But one Easter weekend a tragedy strikes the Bird family that is so devastating it tears them apart. Many years later something will call them home, back to the house they grew up in - and to what really happened that Easter weekend all those years ago.

Slow start, but a good read in the end.

I struggled at the beginning of this book because it focused so much on the Mother's illness, and made her seem like such an idiot. In the end I think it's a well written, well performed novel about the struggles of life, and adulting in a family that doesn't fit the "mold".
