So good

This story is so good! It’s just like everyone said, witches and inception put together. There were quite a few time throughout where I was genuinely lost. I understood towards the end that was likely portrayed that way because it was how Kira was experiencing things but it could have flowed a bit better and not been so jumpy. It all come together in the end though and I really enjoyed it. I am very excited for the next book to come out! I was hooked all the way through. Great break out book for a new author.

I will say the narrator read very slow and I had to speed it up. It was also a bit dramatized. That being said I got used to it. I listened to the audition tape for the next narrators (I have DNF’d books on audible because of poor narration) and I truly hope they do better than their audition tape or choose different narrators because I won’t be able to listen if it’s like the teaser clip.

Wonderful fantasy

I loved the world building, the magic, the suspense, the performance-everything. I enjoy listening to this narrator, I’ll listen to anything she reads. The story and plot were amazing and I cannot wait for the next book to come out because I need to know what is happening in Astreia and what happens with Imari and Jos.

Okay plot

The plot was okay. There was room for character building and growth. If you want smut, it’s there. The performance by the female was okay. Sometimes she was a bit monotone or seemed like she was trying to lower or deepen her voice. The audio quality wasn’t the greatest.

Audio was not it for me

I got this on audiobook to listen to because I like to listen to a book and read a book. I might like the book better if I read it myself but I could not get over the narration. Although the audio itself was clean, the cadence of the narration and emotion in the performance was… for lack of a better word-awful. I couldn’t get over it enough to listen past chapter 5.

Great performance

By far, these books are the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. It’s like a movie for your ears. I feel like I’m actually in the story. It’s not just a monotone read. The writing was great, it left a bit open for possible other books for other characters. I’m really glad I listened to this series versus reading it. I’ll be buying the books as well. Great plot, great story. 10/10 recommend

Not sure I will finish the audiobook

I’m trying to finish listening. The monotone narration is making it really difficult to want to continue listening. I’ve never had a harder time listening to a book.
