Simply the Best
Revisado: 10-17-21
I have read this book before but wanted to introduce it to my husband, particularly amidst a fall hiking tour through New England. The book was as wonderful as I remembered it to be, and made better by having it read by Bill Bryson.

Historia
Daniel Hill will never forget the day he heard these words: "Daniel, you may be white, but don't let that lull you into thinking you have no culture. White culture is very real. In fact, when white culture comes in contact with other cultures, it almost always wins. So it would be a really good idea for you to learn about your culture." Confused and unsettled by this encounter, Hill began a journey of understanding his own white identity. Today he is an active participant in addressing and confronting racial and systemic injustices.

Excellent, Compelling, Honest
Revisado: 04-04-21
What is so compelling about this book is how authentic and honest the author is about the journey of racial awareness. There is no pretension or judgment, just honest self-reflection and helpful tools for others to join the journey. Highly recommend for all who are at the start to their journey of racial identity and toward racial justice.

Historia
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

This was one of those books that I didn’t want to end! Such a wonderful story. And the narrator was fantastic.
