Historia
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

too silly to be readable
Revisado: 03-25-25
Both the story and the narration were just plain silly. I kept thinking, “It can’t really be like this.” But it was and stayed that way until I gave up, embarrassed to quit half way through a short story.

Too juvenile for my taste
Revisado: 03-17-25
I had decided halfway through this book that I would not continue to follow the series. It is just so much more young adult than the lost fleet series, for example. I finished the book and have now discovered that the series ends after two books. That’s good news from my perspective.

May be good for preteens and some YA
Revisado: 02-17-25
The writing style, the humor, and the content all seem designed for very young readers. I almost felt that I was reading the written equivalent of Saturday morning, cartoons. I gave up on this one really early. There are so much better ways to spend time than listening to this

Historia
Genetically engineered with partly alien DNA, Lieutenant Selene Genji is different from ordinary humans. And they hate her for it. Still, she’s spent her life trying to overcome society’s prejudice by serving in Earth’s Unified Fleet. Genji is stationed on a ship in orbit when humanity’s factional extremism on the planet reaches a boiling point, and she witnesses the utter annihilation of Earth. When the massive forces unleashed by Earth’s death warp space and time to hurl her forty years into the past, Genji is given a chance to try to change the future and save Earth.

This this was more of a young adult book than expected
Revisado: 02-05-25
I was surprised by the amount of time spent on a potential romance between the two key characters. And the conversations between them felt pretty amateurish.

This is more over the top than usual
Revisado: 12-19-24
I enjoyed the book. But there’s a major plot point that happens later in the book that was just so over the top that I became discouraged for a bit. I could not believe that Baldacci had resorted to such things.

This did not feel quite so coherent as usual
Revisado: 10-11-24
This story felt more like cleaning up loose ends from other stories and then it did a sustained effort to resolve some big issue. So it wasn’t as compelling as usual.

Ok but disjointed
Revisado: 09-18-24
This story jumped around a lot, as did Mitch. In many parts of the book it felt rushed and more convoluted than I think it needed to be. And it was a little disconcerting to find that Mitch could pop up, almost anywhere at almost any time, almost out of the blue.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

A nonstop chase towards what?
Revisado: 06-11-24
It is hard to feel that this book is going anywhere. There are two characters observing apocalyptic situation and working to connect with each other. It reminds me of action movies with almost nonstop scenes. After not too long I find myself wishing Chase would be over and we’d get to something more substantial.

Slow and mild with a whiff of weird
Revisado: 05-18-24
I think this book is supposed to be scary and exciting and strange. But it starts very slowly, showing a touch of potential but not encouraging me to want to pick it up to resume reading. Feeling that the story could be good but the audio not so much I have decided not to finish. Instead I just watched the beginning of the movie and find myself very willing to give up on several hours of listening in favor of a 90+ minute movie.
