I really like the idea of the story and overall it was good. Just don't expect Huck Finn told through Jim's eyes.
This is a story inspired by the idea of Jim's perspective and is a decent story.
Huck Finn is just the jumping off point. it follows some of the events in Twain's book, but it's better to look at it as a completely independent story.

I liked this book. I was probably just expecting too much after reading reviews and hearing about it from other people. It attempted too grand a scope. The prose is good but not great and a little pretentious. The story/characters tie back in on themselves like in Dickens or Hugo which I found a little forced for this novel.

But I did really like it overall. Good narration. enjoyable listen.

Definitely worth a listen. Opens your eyes to the world of economic refugees from Korea living in post war Japan.

Good overall story. Easy to listen to. Something along the lines of "The Good Earth", but in a more modern setting, and told by a native, and not quite as epic.

I do like how the narrator tells the story of each character from an omniscient perspective.

Definitely enjoyed the book.

This is an entertaining account of the rise of the founder of the Silk Road, complete with corrupt government officials, murders, and intimidation.

It's a great glimpse into the life of the dark web's most notorious user and the reasoning behind the building of his empire.

Definitely an entertaining listen.

To Kill a Mockingbird is an American classic that describes life in a small Alabama town. It's in large part a story about race told through the eyes of white protagonists with white heroes.

Go Set a Watchmen is also a story predominantly about race issues told through the viewpoint of its white characters. But the picture it paints about racism is much more nuanced and much more disturbing. While TKM leaves white readers feeling good that they are not "racists like those racist whites in the book", Go Set a Watchman invites more introspection about various facets of racial issues much more prevalent in the US today.

Character development is not nearly what it is in TKM, but this book is a must-read for anyone who has read her first published novel. It is not a "feel-good" novel; but any novel about race issues in the US should not be a feel-good read,

Engaging account of Malcolm's account of his own life with fantastic narration! I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Insightful on America's problem with race.

I love this book. The story of a small island in Greece during Nazi Occupation told through the viewpoints of several characters. I read it 20 years ago and now listened to the audio book. It's a fun listen with excellent narration. Makes me want to learn the mandolin AND travel to Greece!

Great book. I liked Trevor Noah okay before I listened to this. I like him and admire him a lot more.

Great stories about growing up mixed race in South Africa.

His narration is excellent and really makes the book. It would be a good read, but it's a much better listen. His accents are incredible, and heating him speak native languages is awesome.

Loved the book.

I had heard it was good, but the title kind of turned me off. It sounds like he is highlighting his victimhood. But he's not. Really a great listen.

It turns out that the underground journey from Afghanistan to Europe is a bit boring. There are a few exciting moments, but overall, it's a lot of waiting around in migrant camps or "safe houses".
I don't want to be too critical as it was pretty remarkable that the author undertook this.

In the end, however, I was still not totally clear on how this process worked.

Another thing was was never explained was how these people from incredibly poor countries got their money. It was like $2000 to get across a certain border, then more to go on, then something new came up and it was another $1000 for a fake passport, then they needed plane tickets for another $1000. Where the money came from and how they accessed that money was never really explained. Plus they always seemed to have money for a few beers, a kebab, smokes, and when it was available, a little Maryjane.

But, if you are interested in the refugee and migrant situtation, the book is definitely worth a listen
