Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Love it!
Revisado: 09-21-09
What a great story! It pulls you right in. The narrator does a wonderful job creating characters' voices.
Warning: audible only has the first 4 books in the series unabridged and read by Davina Porter. After that it is a new author and abridged. Terribly frustrating when they do that, as I have run into the problem often. You can find the unabridged versions of the later books read by Davina Porter elsewhere.

Historia
The last camel is dead, and Egyptologist Amelia Peabody, her dashing husband, Emerson, and precocious son, Ramses, are in dire straits on the sun-scorched desert sands. Months before, back in cool, green England, Viscount Blacktower had approached them to find his son and his son's new bride, who have been missing in war-torn Sudan for over a decade. An enigmatic message scrawled on papyrus and a cryptic map had been delivered to Blacktower, awakening his hope that the couple was still alive.

Just Awful to Listen to
Revisado: 11-14-08
I am barely through two chapters and have decided to read the actual book. The narrator is horrible. As all the previous reviews agree. And I mean horrible. Her characters are flat and have totally different personalities. If you are a fan of Amelia & Emerson as read by Barbara Rosenblat then by all means skip this narrator.

2 Stars due to Narrator
Revisado: 02-15-05
As a Thursday Next fan you must read the fourth installment of her adventures. Overall the series, though perhaps as someone commented can get a little drawn out, is one of the more imaginative series of books I have read/heard in a long time. That being said after hearing the first 3 books wonderfully read by Elizabeth Sastre this newest narrator is horrible. She cannot seem to pronounce names properly and you spend time trying to figure out just who she is talking about. Her pauses between sections sometimes are so long I find myself looking at my iPod to see if it is still on. And the absolute worst is she sounds like she has gum or hard candy in her mouth while she is reading. I found myself cringing at times and not once felt like I could totally be wrapped up in the book as I had with the previous 3. I hope someone sends these reviews back to the company who made the recordings. PLEASE bring back Elizabeth Sastre for the next Next book!

By all accounts, Thomas Andrews, designer of the ill-fated Titanic, went down with the ship. How, then, could someone else know, not only the vivid and horrific details of what Andrews experienced that tragic night, but also, details of his entire life?

Interesting
Revisado: 01-12-05
This is the biography of Thomas Andrews' life story based upon the hypnosis sessions of the American author who was Thomas Andrews in a past life. It was very interesting to hear and terribly sad because we all know what happens in the end. The narrator does a wonderful job. I would have loved more background on the author and his life. It is touched upon briefly in the beginning about his fears of ice and other issues which led him to hypnosis. Also if anyone has tried to confirm any of this. Perhaps in a later book? At the end they tell you how you can order a copy of all the hypnosis sessions.

Started slow but ended a favorite
Revisado: 12-30-04
This book started slow but having been warned I kept with it. Once the family begins their move to Canada I could not stop listening. One of the more interesting books I have heard/read in some time.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future.

Just Wonderful
Revisado: 11-03-04
I was left in tears after hearing this wonderful novel. I am in awe of the author, her first novel. It had me hooked from beginning to end. The storyline was so interesting. The readers added so much emotion to the novel and made the characters even more real.
