Historia
Tara Westover and her family grew up preparing for the End of Days but, according to the government, she didn’t exist. She hadn’t been registered for a birth certificate. She had no school records because she’d never set foot in a classroom, and no medical records because her father didn’t believe in hospitals. As she grew older, her father became more radical and her brother more violent. At 16, Tara knew she had to leave home. In doing so she discovered both the transformative power of education, and the price she had to pay for it.

I wasnt expecting the content of this book and am so glad I chose it.
Such a brave and courageous woman, a genuine and heartbreaking story. I hope she continues to believe in her convictions and continues to hold her own beliefs.
Beautifully narrated.

Twenty-four hours later, a second schoolgirl is found in a shallow grave - her body identically arranged. The hunt for the killer is on. The police call in criminal psychologist Kate Pearson to get inside the mind of the murderer before he strikes again. But the more Kate discovers about the killings, the more it all feels terrifyingly familiar.

Too drawn out
Revisado: 07-22-18
As with so many of these books, the story is drawn out almost beyond endurance.
The narrators voice was monotone which made the story seem even more tedious.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

But when he learns that in fact she was murdered, he devotes himself to hunting down her killers. Most of his life he had thought of himself as a decent man. But now he's so consumed with thoughts of retribution that he questions whether he will take that last step and enact the vengeance he longs for.

But drawn out
Revisado: 05-09-18
It seems to me that authors think out a particular drama then spend 90% of their writing time building as much often irrelevant detail to turn it into a novel. So drags on without much purpose.

Historia
Charley has a strange feeling when she sees the idyllic mill house with its cluster of outbuildings, the lake and the swirling mill stream - a powerful sense of recognition, as if she has been there before. Except she knows she hasn't. After Charley and her husband, Tom, move into Elmwood Mill, sinister memories of a previous existence start to haunt her. Despite both their attempts to dismiss everything with rational explanations, the feeling turns to certainty as the memories become increasingly vivid and terrifying.

I find it difficult to understand when an author writes a good story then leaves it in the hands of a dreadful narrator who mispronounced towns, names of tribes and numerous other items common in Kenya. It made me cringe.

Historia
Tired of mortgage and car payments, 30-somethings Andrew and Gwynn sold everything they owned and escaped their humdrum nine-to-five existence for life in paradise - a tiny island accessible only by boat or air in one of the remotest spots on Earth: the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Woefully inexperienced, they took control of a luxury game lodge where the rich and famous went to sip gin and tonics with lions and elephants.

Revisado: 09-26-17
Love Africa have always longed to go to the Okavango Delta, one day.
A delightful story, hope there is more.
Would have been richer if more description of local people. They are equally as interesting as the animals. Wonderful personalities.
Being narrated by the authors is always a risk.
