When a new chicken arrives at the farm, she quickly learns that compared to the others she is very plain. That is when the Wise Rooster teaches her that outside appearances are not always important. Sometimes being "just red" is the best compliment of all.

Although badly scarred and down to his last kidney after the previous caper, Happy Doll is back in business. When a beguiling young woman turns up at his door, it’s Doll’s past that comes knocking. Mary DeAngelo is searching for her estranged mother, Ines Candle—a singular and troubled woman Doll once loved. The last he’d seen her she’d been near-death: arms slit like envelopes. Now, years later, Mary claims Ines is alive and recently made contact—only to disappear once again. Although his psychoanalyst would discourage it, Doll takes the case, desperate to see Ines again.

I love the Authors voice.
I appreciate the detail in which he describes each character & situation. Thrilling yet hysterically funny. With many books on audible, I ask Alexa how many minutes left ( because I'm bored) In this case I ask only to wonder when all this verbal pleasure ends. Well done Sir. Book 2 just as good as book 1.

My New Favorite Author!
Revisado: 09-11-21
I absolutely loved this book. I was so immersed in the story & characters that I simply couldnt stop listening. I even purchased ear buds for my morning walk and set up Audible from my cars bluetooth. This is something I didnt find neccessary until now.
I told my husband and my best friend & her husband about this author and his series of books and we are all reading through them and exchanging high points.
I also LOVE Scott Bricks narration. I have listened to other audible books he has narrated and it really doesnt get any better. I especially like the voice he creates for the female characters. The bits of humor incorporated into each book had me laughing out loud. Well Done! We are all fans for life.

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

Superior Narration!
Revisado: 06-30-20
What an enjoyable story. Although it shows the challenges of being a
gay teen, there were so many bright spots and this book was brought to life by its absolutely wonderful cast of characters. I have to be honest I found myself laughing out loud through most of the story. I immediately starting looking for other work by this author. I didnt find anything. My search continues!

Revisado: 05-31-20
I loved every bit of this intriguing story. Every word. It was so well written, it really pulled me in.
I didnt want to stop listening.
In addition to a great story,
the narration is really so critical to an audible book. This narration by Julia Whelan was spot on.
I dont know if I've written a review on audible yet after 136 books but I can certainly say for sure that this is one of my favorites.

I enjoyed his account of Jackie Kennedy & Bunny Mellon.
Which scene was your favorite?
Its hard to say which scene was my favorite. I can say that I laughed out loud...a lot.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes this is a book I wanted to listen to in one sitting. I tried but...daily life pulled me away.
Any additional comments?
I have a friend who is an actress (Broadway/off Broadway) who has done a few things with Mr. Langella. I adored her stories and impersonations she did of him. I have long since been curious of who he really is and what is life is like.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Probably not. I am a one time only book reader
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sycamore Row?
Lucian...anything he did was intriguing to me.
Have you listened to any of Michael Beck’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never listened to any other performance but I must say, Michael Beck was the key for my continued interest. Absolutely the best narration in any audible book I have listen to so far.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Compelling characters that have deep rich old southern traditions with shocking family secrets.
