Solid Biblical advice & incredibly helpful!
Revisado: 11-30-24
I greatly appreciated the guidance & Biblical advice provided in this book. Far too often, Christians fail to recognize the destruction caused by emotionally abusive relationships. Christian women are often encouraged to stay in unhealthy relationships & are not provided with resources to address the underlying issues. Lysa shares information from expert counselors and her personal insights along with scripture. I could relate to her story & am thankful Lysa was willing to be vulnerable & share her personal pain to help others. I especially appreciated the way Lysa discussed betrayal & hurt that takes place in the church, she was respectful & honest. This book is helping me on my healing journey.

Historia
As tens of millions of Americans are living longer lives, longevity is creating challenges that cut across race, class, and gender. Caregivers help older relatives for “free,” but with high costs to themselves. The institutions built to protect older people—like nursing homes and guardianship—too often harm them instead. And epidemics of isolation and loneliness make older people vulnerable to all sorts of harm. In The Measure of Our Age, elder justice expert and MacArthur “genius” grant recipient M.T. Connolly investigates the systems we count on to protect us as we age.

Good review of legal aspects & challenges of protecting aging people
Revisado: 03-31-24
This book provided good details & statistics related to the aging population in the U.S. and legal rules/guidelines related to care of the elderly. I appreciate the author's candid presentation about what she has observed & learned in her professional career & also personal experience with her family. As someone who works in the healthcare industry, I felt she provided a honest opinion of the intense challenges that exist in the US system.

Historia
Caleb Kalenbach is the Lead Pastor at Discovery Church in Simi Valley, CA. Raised in the LGBT community, he was exposed to how some Christians treated the LGBT community, and grew to hate Christians. In high school, he joined a Bible study to disprove the Bible, but ended up following Jesus instead. Later, his parents followed Jesus, too. This is the subject of his first book, Messy Grace - holding on to the truth of God's Word while being filled with grace.

The most fatal virus known to science, rabies kills nearly 100 percent of its victims once the infection takes root in the brain. From Greek myths to zombie flicks, from the laboratory heroics of Louis Pasteur to the contemporary search for a lifesaving treatment, Rabid is a fresh, fascinating, and often wildly entertaining look at one of mankind’s oldest and most fearsome foes.

I read this book during the COVID 19 pandemic. What an interesting time to reflect on the folklore and science that accompanied beliefs and treatment of Rabbies! I highly recommend this book to anyone with a love for science & medicine.
