His perspective and candidness is thoughtful, relevant, brave and truly eye-opening. I only wish I could see the pride on Diana’s face for her son. Please read Spare, you won’t regret it.

An absolute masterpiece

Prepare to have your soul changed by reading this book. Sometimes I got a little lost in the science, but Grace and Rocky always guided me back. Poignant, beautiful, gripping, and often hilarious at times…it will have you on the edge of your seat, while also holding you steady. A story of radical acceptance, unexpected friends, and deep curiosity….this is a “must read” if there ever was one. And not to be dramatic, but I’d die for Rocky. A big kudos to the narrator. The best audiobook I have ever listened to, by far. Enjoy the ride, there’s no going back…

Worth the read, but overhyped

Overall, it was cute. But after all the hype, I was expecting more depth in plot and characters, and maybe a few additional plot twists. If I’m asked yes, no, or maybe…I’d say maybe depending on your reading mood.

Did I read the same book as everyone else?

Do not waste your time. This book was extremely hard to follow, changed verb tenses often (and annoyingly), was not engaging at all. Half the time, I had no idea which characters were being talked about and what they were doing, or where they were. The narrator was too dramatic for my taste as well, making it that much more difficult to get through. The five star reviews are very deceiving because I feel like I read a completely different book than those who claimed to love this book and be on the edge of their seat while reading it. This book was just one big, giant disappointment. You’ve been warned, save your audible credit!

Your life will change reading this book

All I can say is, my life has been forever changed since reading this book. The most accurate portrayal of PTSD I have ever read. This book is a gift. Any woman who has lived through hardship, loss, strife, rock bottom, deep pain…and come out the other side, will see themselves in Frankie. Easily my favorite book I’ve ever read. I feel both whole and shattered since finishing it, and my life will never be the same. Read it. Read it. Read it. You will not regret it.

I found myself finding any excuse to listen to this book to get to the ending. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Gut wrenching, powerful, bittersweet. It’s everything a thriller and murder mystery should be.

Although there were some slower parts, I ultimately LOVED this book for so many reasons. If you have ever loved someone so much you would do anything to protect them, then this book is for you. This book sheds light on the importance of perspective in the face of polarizing adversity.
