Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Entertaining storyline and excellent narrator performance
Revisado: 11-22-24
I enjoyed this audiobook. It kept my interest throughout, and I liked the references to other fairytales, without being too cliche or forced. The narrator is excellent, giving unique voices to all the characters. I highly recommend this audiobook and will likely read or listen to this one again and again.

It’s safe to say everyone thinks about death—whether they want to or not. But have you ever wondered about what sort of keepsakes you can make with your remains, or given any thought to the most scandalous deathbed confessions throughout history? Well Madison Reyes and Spencer Henry have, and they've spent countless hours scouring the darkest corners of the internet, digging through newspaper archives, devouring documents, and picking the brains of death industry experts to bring you Obitchuary, a darkly funny and deeply poignant exploration of all things death.

Love Spencer and Madison; this book is fun!
Revisado: 11-10-24
I love that Madison and Spencer narrate this audiobook. I adore the podcast, and the material of this book runs true to their podcast style and its content. This is one of the few podcasts I listen to regularly, and their book didn’t disappoint. While I love the information and the fact that these two excellent hosts narrate it, I prefer a professional narrator for audiobook performances. I’ll definitely be purchasing the physical book for images and future reads.

I live my life by a few simple rules—let no one in, trust only my family, and don’t ever spend more than three nights with a woman. Those are easy enough to abide by until I meet gorgeous, captivating, and absolutely brilliant Sophie Winston and fall into a dangerous romance with the sister of the detective investigating my father’s murder.

Good Narration, Very Good Storyline
Revisado: 09-18-24
It took me a few books into the series to really appreciate the writing. I enjoy the varied POV changes throughout, telling the same story through a different lens, keeping me interested enough to weather the cliche romance moments of the first few books. The relationships between friends, family, and romantic partners are well-developed, and the dramatic moments in the books pulled me in as a reader (listener). Publishing the series was not just a way to get raunchy scenes on paper; it has an interesting plot to engage me even without the steamy bedroom scenes, which I appreciate. Each book leads into the next romantic entanglement seamlessly, and the crime and family drama plays out effortlessly throughout as well.

Promising Premise Didn’t Deliver
Revisado: 08-10-24
The premise of this series had me dying to read it. I listened to this first book nonstop over a long weekend, hoping and waiting for things to build. I think the narrator’s performance is excellent, covering many characters with ease. However, the story itself fell flat for me. I never became invested in the main character’s plight, her relationship, or the world conflicts happening. The writing seems to just hit the surface of what could be, when it came to the main characters’ relationships, and some themes and relationships are rushed (difficult to explain/review without spoilers). The idea of this series has so much promise, and it was a good way to spend time, even if I was spending that time expecting something exciting to be on the way, then it never came.

Historia
He may be Lord of the Seven Seas, but for The Deep, life has been a tsunami of humiliations and setbacks. After braving the childhood trauma of being the weird kid with gills, Deep rose to the very top, basking in worldwide fame with Earth’s most powerful superheroes. But his public glory masked the disrespect of his teammates who crushed him, day after day. When he found himself patrolling the streets of Sandusky, Ohio, and then swallowed up into the Church of the Collective, Deep realized he had plummeted even deeper than the Mariana Trench.

Cute
Revisado: 03-31-24
I think the performances were spot-on and entertaining. The story itself was humorous enough to listen through to the end, but I wouldn’t go in expecting something as captivating as an episode of The Boys.

Great sleep aid
Revisado: 08-18-21
I listen to this often as I drift off to sleep. I love that it’s a full 30+ minutes of natural sounds, not the often artificial, brief loops (so jarring to me once they repeat) like some noise machines. The waves and other random beach sounds are soothing, subtle background noise, perfect for times that I want to relax or just sleep well.
