Historia
Arabian Sands is Wilfred Thesiger’s stunning account of five years spent crossing the Arabian Peninsula by foot and on camels, with nomadic Bedouin tribesmen as guides. Travelling between 1945 and 1950, the British explorer treks through Yemen, the Empty Quarter, Oman, and parts of the then Trucial States, crossing and re-crossing around 250,000 miles of this most inhospitable terrain. He was the first European ever to set eyes on the dunes and wadis of these deserts.

Unmissable, humbling epic of our time
Revisado: 04-01-25
You will not read an account of the Bedu in the same way today, or since. The humility, capacity for adventure, and cultural nuance of Thesiger in this book is a masterpiece in itself.

Historia
Werner Herzog was born in September 1942 in Munich, Germany, at a turning point in the Second World War. Soon Germany would be defeated and a new world would have to be made out the rubble and horrors of the war. Fleeing the Allied bombing raids, Herzog’s mother took him and his older brother to a remote, rustic part of Bavaria where he would spend much of his childhood hungry, without running water, in deep poverty. It was there, as the new postwar order was emerging, that one of the most visionary filmmakers of the next seven decades was formed.

The last book of its kind
Revisado: 03-05-25
Astounding. In every way. The deep thinking, nonchalant narrative, and genuinely cinematic story of a life well lived.

Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

One of the most vulnerable autobiographies of all time
Revisado: 01-23-25
In utter shock. From the vivid memories, to this man’s ability to find meaning in moments most of us don’t ever go back to, or even can. The vulnerability, grace and sheer humility of Pacino speaking his own words is gold. I haven’t read anything like this book.

Historia
A rare, intimate portrait of Christopher Nolan with the full cooperation of Nolan himself who opened up more fully than ever before in his talks with Tom Shone. In chapters structured by themes and motifs ("Time"; "Chaos"), Shone writes of Nolan's thoughts on movies, on plots; on time, identity, perception, chaos, daydreams. Here is Nolan on the evolution of his pictures, and the writers, artists, directors, and thinkers who have inspired and informed his films.

Unassuming, charming, honest, insightful
Revisado: 09-09-24
Astounding book for anybody who wanted a peak at the layers of influence, instinct and insights of possibly the most influential storyteller working in film today. The anecdotes and accidents of his movies and characters are fantastic fun and leave you with a deeper understanding without washing away the enigma Nolan seems to remain.
