In this book we meet Katie and Drew. Neither of them is looking for love, but when they meet at a costume party (Katie as an extremely large male appendage and Drew as a giant banana slug) they hit it off and end up spending an adventurous evening together evading the police. Multiple times. Katie swore off men because she'd been used over and over again by men trying to get closer to the hockey team. But Drew is already involved with the hockey team, so he's obviously not out for that. There's one large problem though. Katie's dog hates Drew and attacks him, so Drew really can't go over to Katie's very often. It takes some time but they both realize how much the other means to them and decide to put in the work to make their relationship thrive. Overall, this was a really cute romance, and I enjoyed it. It was my first book by this author, but as this is part of a series, I'll definitely be checking out the rest.

Another fantastic book in The Olympic Peninsula Series! This is the last book in the series, and I'm sad to see it draw to a close. I've loved following this family through all these books and see the relationships develop over time. In this book, Edward, the eldest brother, is back home and is no longer a priest. The family doesn't know his reasoning for leaving the priesthood, but there is some speculation. Lisette is the owner of Cafe Lisette where Edward becomes a regular. Lisette has some rumors floating around that she used to be a call girl, but none of that is true. Edward and Lisette soon realize their feelings for one another, but will the O'Connell family welcome Lisette into their fold, or will rumors and past resentments keep her at bay? I loved seeing how all the family opened up to one another about their secret special gifts. That's how family should be, sharing with one another things that are so important. I've really enjoyed this series, and I look forward to more from this author.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book! In this book we meet Tina (Christina) who has created a business making miniature replicas and runs the business out of her home with her best friend as her assistant. As a 9-year-old child Tina discovered her father lying dead over his desk and then was abruptly abandoned by her mother. She was left in the care of her Aunt Liddy (her father's sister) and carried feelings of resentment toward her mother, as she blamed her mother for not seeking help for her father to save him. And why did her mother never come back for her?

Fast forward to today, Tina is now 33 years old, and her mother shows up at her door claiming she has lung cancer and is going to undergo treatment for it and asks to move in with Tina during the course of the treatments. Of course, Tina is vehemently against her mother moving in! She hasn't been around for the past 20 plus years, and NOW she wants to come back and make amends?!? At the same time as this is going on, Jake Martin comes into the picture asking to make "little rooms" for his mother for their new B&B. Tina and her assistant gladly take on the job, and during the research for their project, they discover that the past Jake's family knows isn't quite as it had appeared. Mirroring this, Tina finds out that the life she thought she knew turned out to be quite a different story and she's left with so many questions. It completely turns her world upside down as she realizes she's not who she thought she was, and neither was her beloved father and estranged mother, nor is her dear Aunt Liddy!

I HIGHLY recommend this book. There's family drama including secrets and betrayal. There's heartache and love. And even a little romance to boot! You won't regret this book!

The Changed Man is book 4 of the Olympic Peninsula series written (and narrated) by Cat Treadgold. In this book, we meet Jake who has taken on a new career that his family was unaware of after he resigned as CEO of the family business. Jake now writes thrillers! He shows up in Port Townsend for David and Maddie's wedding, and to his family's surprised, Jake is quite different than the man he used to be. He decides to stay in Port Townsend for a while and ends up renting an old Victorian. He is visited by his recently deceased friend, Rory, who haunts him (talks to him in his mind). Jake ends up meeting Chiara, the aunt and caregiver of David's son Lorenzo. He is immediately taken by her, but unfortunately, she's already married. Fortunately for Jake, she is in a loveless marriage and the two end up falling in love. This was only my second book I've read in this series, but after reading the previous one, it was easier for me to follow along with all the couples that the book covers. It was a very entertaining read, and I'd like to go back and read the previous two that I've not yet read to get a full picture of the family and their stories. I highly recommend not only this book, but the series as a whole. I also really enjoyed the author's note at the end where she opens up and gives some personal touches to the readers.

Thorfinn and the Witch's Curse is book 1 of the Forerunner Series written by Jay Veloso Batista. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I was not disappointed. This book really had something for everyone! Vikings, gods and goddesses, paranormal beings, magic...a little bit of everything! The story was told from different perspectives, so you got to see different individuals' points of view. The story covers Thorfinn and his encounter with a witch that caused his life to take a very different turn. The book included musical interludes which really added to the story. Also, the narrator could not have been any better, it's like he was MADE to read this book to us. His voice provided a warm and whimsical air to the book. I highly recommend this book and look forward to continuing the series.

This was a very entertaining read! I finished it in one go, listening to it while I was working. I found it to be an enjoyable listen. This is book 3 of the Eve Sawyer series, and I've read the previous books. This book, however, would do fine as a standalone for anyone who hadn't yet read the previous books. In this book, Eve and her love interest, Bob, set off to find their missing friends, Sally Rae and Drew, after Sally Rae's mother called Eve to ask for her help in finding her daughter after she hadn't come home for the weekend as she had planned. Drew and Sally Rae were in a relationship, but it was rumored that they had split up. However, both of them were missing with no clue as to what their whereabouts could be. Were they together? Sally Rae hadn't been spotted by anyone since Friday afternoon, and Drew's phone was left at home, and he was nowhere to be found. Eve and Bob do their best to track the two down, eventually receiving help from Drew's roommate Randall. The friends are taken on a wild ride, full of twists. Another great read from Jane Suen, and I can't wait to read more from this author!

In this book, we meet Betsy, a small-town librarian and Nash, a Marine veteran. Nash has a hard time dealing with headaches and it makes him a bit grumpy, so when Betsy first meets Nash, he's not the most pleasant individual. However, Nash realizes that he was a little too gruff with Betsy and makes it up to her by helping her out when a winter storm comes, and her car ends up with a flat tire. He offers to give her a ride home, but she's torn because Nash is a stranger. She gives Nash a chance and realizes that he's a much nicer man than she had originally thought, but she's still intimidated by him. Nash had a bad experience with his ex-fiance who didn't want a man who only had one eye and an eye patch. He's about to give up on women in general but ends up falling for Betsy when he realizes that she is nothing like his ex, and is in fact, exactly what he's looking for in a woman. Then Betsy's sister comes along and makes things difficult with her drama. Will Betsy and Nash end up together, or will the drama her sister brings tear them apart before they can even begin a relationship?

The Magic Man is book 3 of the Olympic Peninsula Series, and I have not read the first two books. However, I found this book easy enough to follow along with (and now I want to go back and read the first two!). This book follows the story of Maddie and David. It's obvious they should be together, but the timing is just never right for either of them. David has his fiancée Sylvia to worry about, and Maddie is having a fling (as she knows it will be) with Kilo. There are obvious feelings there, but it seems they have a hard time admitting it in the beginning. Also, we see David's special talent for healing the ones he loves in this book, and Maddie learns the secret. A very interesting book, indeed! And so refreshing that the author, Cat Treadgold, narrates her own book!

This was such a great book and was so easy to listen to. In this book we meet Sue, a mother of 4 boys who had previously been an extremely successful accountant, but who had been out of the workforce raising her sons for the past 20+ years. Now that the boys are pretty well grown, Sue realizes that it's time for her to decide what her next endeavor should be. When she discovers the plans to build an extremely oversized resort and theme park in her quiet and beautifully serene town, she realizes that the solitude she currently enjoys is being threatened by this impending monstrosity. With the help of family and friends, Sue launches an initiative to prevent these newcomers from moving in. However, there are many different things going on in Sue's life that she must deal with. She is having marital problems with her husband Gabe, who spends more time in Denver than he does with his wife and children. She's had a rough past with her mom and has strived to live her life in a way her mother hadn't so that she doesn't end up like her mom did. She also faces opposition on the fight against this new theme park. She launches a podcast chronicling this new proposed theme park, which slowly gains momentum. But will it be enough to sway the city council from approving this new theme park? And can she work out the relationships with her husband and mother?

Necrosis takes place in a world where a virus has taken over, leaving those who are infected as strong zombie creatures who wreak havoc on the living. Amy is determined to keep her daughter Lilah safe through the aftermath, which proves to be a difficult feat. During a very close call, the mother and daughter find a group of survivors who rescue them from a hoarde of zombies who almost overcome the pair. They are able to find a little bit of beauty amongst the devastation of this new world when they’re brought into the shelter of this new group, and Amy is pleasantly surprised to reunite with an old childhood friend. This short story shows the lengths a mother will go to in order to protect her child. It was very well written and the performance kept my attention throughout. I look forward to more from this author!
