Stunning story
Revisado: 02-10-20
What an unbelievable story! I loved every single minute of the story, and the narrator does just the best job. In fact, I loved it so much as soon as it finished I started listening to it again. This really should be voted diamond - One of the best.

Historia
Arethusa Clayton has always been formidable, used to getting her own way. On her death, she leaves unexpected instructions. Instead of being buried in America, on the wealthy East Coast where she and her late husband raised their two children, Arethusa has decreed that her ashes be scattered in a remote corner of Ireland, on the hills overlooking the sea. All Arethusa ever told Faye was that she grew up in a poor farming family and left Ireland, alone, to start a new life in America, as did so many in those times of hardship and famine.

Stunning - both author and narrator
Revisado: 11-14-19
Once again Santa Montefiore has given us a beautifully written story set in both Ireland and the USA. Her descriptions take you right to the beautiful places she describes with characters so relateable you feel you know them personally. I loved her previous stories about this castle and family, and once again she hasn't disappointed. I have listened to all her stories, and also to all those narrated by the wonderful Genevieve Swallow, and in fact often listen to them more than once. Highly recommended.

Historia
Willow Havens is 10 years old and obsessed with the fear that her mother will die. Her mother, Polly, is a cantankerous, take-no-prisoners Southern woman who lives to chase varmints, drink margaritas, and antagonize the neighbors - and she sticks out like a sore thumb among the young, modern mothers of their small conventional Texas town. She was in her late 50s when Willow was born, so Willow knows she's here by accident, a late-life afterthought.

SPECTACULAR!
Revisado: 06-12-19
What an enjoyable listen - I was so sad when it finished. The narrator was just fantastic and I fell in love with every character in the story. Her portrayal of both Willow and Polly was faultless, and the story line by Kathy kept me hooked. Her descriptions of their life had me enraptured and cold not wait to see what happened in the end, even though I did not want it to end.

Fabulous
Revisado: 02-23-18
Would you listen to Songs of Love and War again? Why?
Yes - still do. The characters are so believable and the story line intrigueing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Kitty - she was the main character and loved how she viewed her life
What about Genevieve Swallow’s performance did you like?
She was just amazing! Her variations of accents and how she read the story was captivating.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes - but as it was a bit long I wasn't able to!
Any additional comments?
I LOVED the three books in this trilogy - think Santa has spoilt me as I cant seem to find any others as good - so keep listening to them again and again.
