Confessions of a Guide Dog is Uska's version of events, during that extraordinary first year. His "lick-n-tell" memoires are as loyal and loving as a Labrador could make them, but they do come from a dog, and dogs don't lie. Expect some home truths about the human race, blind living, and dog loving, all told with a humor that reflects the effect he has on people around him. This should spread to everyone who reads them. Despite our teething problems, we made it, largely thanks to the training efforts of the team at Guide Dogs.

Just a little too cute

It's OK for a child. The reader is very good. But this book is told from the dogs point of you and that's always problematic. Does show that guy dogs are not perfect, which is a good thing. But it definitely left me needing some insulin.

Unfortunately, the summary says this book is for grades 4 -- 7. It's been many years since I was that young, and I love the book. If you've ever lost someone you loved, and struggled with the loss, read King of Shadows. Don't let the Shakespearean play throw you: that's only the framework for the real story. Jim Dale's southern accent isn't his best, but hey, it's Jim Dale, so it doesn't matter. I've read almost all of Susan Cooper's books and enjoyed them all, but I like this best.

I've never written a review in all my years with Audible. I just lost my GSD, so was looking for a book as a comfort. I listened to the sample, but thought I could cope with the narrator, but, no way. Over-acting would be the kindest thing I could say. I'm sorry, because there are few Audible books about GSDs. Don't waste your money.
