Historia
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

Awful waste of time

Historia
Fifty years ago, a young astronomer named Frank Drake pointed a radio telescope at nearby stars in the hope of picking up a signal from an alien civilization. Thus began one of the boldest scientific projects in history, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). But after a half century of scanning the skies, astronomers have little to report but an eerie silence---eerie because many scientists are convinced that the universe is teeming with life.

Historia
KISS did not become one of the most successful rock bands in history by accident. Long before they first took the stage, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley had a clear-cut operating plan for their business. Over the past forty years, KISS has sold over 100 million CDs and DVDs worldwide and manages over 3,000 licensed merchandise items. In addition to KISS, Simmons’ lucrative ventures include two hit reality shows, a professional sports team, a restaurant chain, and a record company.

Incredible
Revisado: 10-31-16
Wasn't expecting this to be so great. Incredible content. I never listened to KISS or watched the reality shows, but Gene Simmons is a legend. What a guy to emulate.

Historia
At seven minutes past midnight, thirteen-year-old Conor wakes to find a monster outside his bedroom window. But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting - he’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the nightmare he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments. The monster in his backyard is different. It’s ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth.

Biggest bummer book of all time.
Great performance though. Extremely sad story, I don't feel too good after finishing this.

Historia
Dr. Glover believes there are men who suffer what he calls the "Nice Guy Syndrome". These men listen, offer advice, and jump at the chance to help. But no matter how hard they try to please others, their own lives are incomplete. Here Dr. Glover offers guidance on how to take back control. He suggests ways to achieve fulfillment in emotional, physical, and professional relationships. By redefining his priorities, any man can create the life he always wanted.

Book can be summed up with "don't be a wimp"
Revisado: 09-05-13
Would you try another book from Robert A. Glover and/or Robert O'Keefe?
No, absolutely not.
What was most disappointing about Robert A. Glover’s story?
The "no s**t, Sherlock" aspects of it. Long-winded, has one central point which is "don't be such a wimp." You can't really elaborate for hours on that subject.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robert O'Keefe?
Some less monotone.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Amazement at how boring it was and obvious.
Any additional comments?
Avoid at all costs.

Historia
Millions of people hate their jobs, or have recently lost one, and would love to start a small business. Yet very few actually try, because the process feels as scary as jumping off a cliff. No matter how boring or stressful a job might be, it's hard to give up a salary and benefits. But for some, it can be the smartest, happiest decision of a lifetime.

Decent book, boring narrator
Revisado: 04-20-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. It's primarily the 4 hour workweek recycled. Much of the content is already on the author's blog. Best for complete business noobs to read this.
What was most disappointing about Pamela Slim’s story?
The narration.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator sounds like a robot voice on a space station. Female HAL-9000. This lady needs caffeine pronto
Was Escape from Cubicle Nation worth the listening time?
Nope. Mainly a Tim Ferriss ripoff
Any additional comments?
Yes, the narrator should be listed as "Siri"

Worst business book of all time
Revisado: 01-18-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
There is no insight or "A-ha!" moments in this book - all very basic, full of fluff. For instance, "If a business needs capital, they should seek investors. Also, consider spending less." Really, really bad.
Has The Personal MBA: Master the Art of Business turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes - and they owe The Four Hour Workweek royalties.
What does Josh Kaufman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
N/A
What character would you cut from The Personal MBA: Master the Art of Business?
N/A
