Excellent Story, Outstanding Narration!
Revisado: 08-24-19
I absolutely loved this audiobook! Keeps you guessing and guessing again all of the way through! I've listened to a few of Tana French's books, and they are always engrossing and convoluted. I'm not writing a super long and spoiler containing review, however I must say that what really made this story pop and come to life was the outstanding narration by Paul Nugent! He even got the 2 annoying children just right, to the point where I was saying out loud " oh brother somebody make that kid stop already!". I'm a Mom of 6 now grown kids, and I know what a child sounds like in real life when they can be getting on your last nerve - and you love them just as much anyway. He really was spot on with all the different emotions each character went through, which added to the suspense. I am looking forward to listening to other Tana French books, especially if they are narrated by Paul Nugent!

I truly enjoyed listening to this classic story! Having read the book and seen the movie, it did not matter a bit that I knew what was going to happen. The narrator is as briliant as the story, and that kept me totally immersed in this classic!

Great Victorian Murder Mystery!
Revisado: 07-22-14
Would you listen to The Mangle Street Murders again? Why?
Yes I plan too because I really found it well written and performed. Interesting and sometimes humorous characters, as well as many twists and turns during the investigation. The attention to detail by the author is excellent, it can be quite morbid and graphic at times with a pinch of humor which I really enjoyed. It also brings to life the London of the time period it takes place in.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mangle Street Murders?
The "roving" eyeball!
Have you listened to any of Lindy Nettleton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first performance I've listened to by Lindy Nettleton, and I would love to listen to more books narrated by her! Her performance was excellent.

Revisado: 03-28-14
I so enjoy Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver series of classic British mysteries! I am very excited to see that more of the books will be available in the audio format this coming June! If you enjoy Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, you most likely will equally enjoy Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver :) Narrator Diana Bishop gives a wonderful performance, perfect for the tone of the series. I highly recommend this series for a rainy or snowy day with a nice pot of tea at hand. And maybe some knitting.....

A wonderful listen, as always!!!!
Revisado: 03-28-14
The Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters has been one of my absolute favorites for years!! I've read all the books more than once, but listening to them performed by one of the best narrators, Barbara Rosenblat, just brings all the characters, action, adventure and humor of the Emerson clan and their friends to life! If you've never read or listened to one of the Amelia Peabody books, I highly recommend any one of them - starting at the beginning I think is best with book one. I laughed quite a bit during this particular book, particularly about the addition of the dog to this already lively family! Definitely a series one can listen to more than once, which I am off to do myself!

Enthralling Story, Exceptional Performance!
Revisado: 10-08-13
I just finished listening to the audiobook version of "A Cure to Die For" and it was fantastic! I also have the kindle version of this book, and this review is based on the recorded version.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Audio Theater format of the audiobook! The narrator's voice is excellent, as are all of the characters in the book. Adding to setting the pace and mood of the story as it plays out are the great sound effects and music in this Audio Theater version. I would definitely love to listen to more books recorded this way and this well, as it definitely gives the characters a more 3D feel.
The story itself has as many twists and turns, ups and downs as a roller coaster! I found myself saying things out loud as I was listening - such as "oh no that's not a good idea", "yes they got away!", "don't trust him", "that person is still alive?! Didn't see that coming!", etc. Yes, basically I was talking to myself and the characters in the book, as my 17 yr. old daughter brought to my attention :) Centered on several main characters desperately trying to get word and the actual cure for cancer and many other diseases out to the population, it's packed with a heady brew of murder, mystery, foreboding, action, tastefully done romance, unexpected acts of kindness, whacky drug dealers, science and humor; as well as some very interesting and thought provoking political and capitalistic ripple effects that are fascinating. While fictitious, I can see how the pharmaceutical companies and the politicians they support would most likely react ruthlessly in reality as they do in the book. More than once I was surprised by some very interesting and often humorous yet heroic characters that drifted into the story line. Some stayed for good, some drifted out casually, others were removed in a sinister fashion. Criss-crossing states and heading to Mexico for a visit with a drug lord, I find the author's ability to give the reader/listener a real feel for everything from scientific details to locations and the unique characteristics of the people in them is very well done. I love the nerves of steel and intelligence beneath the genteel southern belle, how things go down in Iowa and where to hide your miraculous yet illegal hybrid pot seeds. I am not one to write reviews that give away any of a book's secrets, and I'll not do so here. I do highly recommend this book in your favorite format for anyone looking for an awesome story to read! Great ending, by the way, it leaves me hoping for a sequel!
