Not her best writing…
Revisado: 07-16-24
I usually just love CJ Archer’s books. So this one was a little disappointing. It just felt rushed. The overall story was ok, but there was just so much focus on the romance and sex that the story was just kind of lost and underdeveloped. Archer’s other series build the anticipation of romance through multiple books and when the characters finally do get together it’s sweeter and much less base. These characters were going at it up against a wall in the second chapter. It’s whatever. Just not her best work.

There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar.

Good story but the narration...
Revisado: 04-24-19
I enjoyed the overall story but listening the performance of the narrator performing the Winter Queen made me want to scream! Whoever allowed that person be recorded and published should have to listen her over and over for all eternity. The other narrators were great which what made that one stand out even more. Sheesh! Audible, please don’t publish anymore books with that narrator!

I really want to like this book...
Revisado: 10-16-16
I've listened to first couple of books in this series and really enjoyed them, so I really want to enjoy this one but....
This narrator absolutely makes me cringe. She has a very nasal sounding voice that makes me want to offer her Kleenex to blow her nose. And her British accent is atrocious. It waffles back and forth between British and a New Yorker accent, as though she's getting them confused. There is a character from New York but even that accent is over the top and not becoming of the character at all.
I'm really trying to make it through this book because I like this series but listening is really starting to grate on my nerves. Hopefully I'll be able to update later that it was worth it....

Revisado: 10-01-09
This was a good listen but...
I enoyed the storyline very much and thought it was good reminder of God's love and forgiveness. I find my own attitude often mirrors that of the main character Sophie.
My only complaint was that this book seems to have been pieced together incorrectly. Though it sounds seamless, there is an obvious flaw in this recording. The book is in chronological order and dates are interjected to help the reader/listener know the time line. However, in this recording, the book jumps from approx February to mid-summer and then back to March. Thankfully, if one has listened up to that point you can kind of piece it together in your head. I just think you shouldn't have to when you're paying for a product. There is another version of this book available (longer) which is actually what I meant to click on when I purchased this book. Maybe that version doesn't have the same error.
Oh well, still a good story. :-)
