Nola Marie does an excellent job of depicting the intensity of their relationship, the lingering pain, and the effort required to rebuild trust after trauma. However, while the storyline was compelling and the characters were well-developed, I felt something was missing in terms of emotional connection. Though the themes of love, loyalty, and healing were present, I found it difficult to fully immerse myself in Zoey and Jax’s world. Some moments seemed to need a bit more depth or intensity to evoke a stronger emotional response.

As for the audiobook, narrated by Stewart Daniels, I found the narration to be a mismatch for the tone of the story. Daniels has a light and somewhat airy voice, which doesn’t quite convey the gravity of the darker, more traumatic scenes. The story delves into some very intense and emotional moments, but the narrator’s delivery felt too detached from the characters’ pain and inner turmoil. It was difficult to feel the weight of the emotions they were experiencing, which took away from the overall impact of the narrative.

While I enjoyed the story and appreciated the character arcs, I do believe a different narrator with a more emotionally grounded tone could have done the book greater justice. The balance between romance and trauma was there, but I needed a bit more intensity to truly connect with the characters on a deeper level.

Overall, Fighting for His Life is a solid start to The Men of River City series. Fans of emotional romance and stories of overcoming trauma will find much to appreciate here, but I would recommend reading the physical or eBook version for a more immersive experience, as the audiobook didn’t quite capture the weight of the story for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed All Your Fault by Kristin Lee. Set in a Kentucky college, the story follows Adalee Summers, a competitive gymnast navigating both the pressures of her sport and personal upheavals. After breaking up with her boyfriend, she attends a party where she meets a transfer student, leading to an unexpected turn of events.

Adalee is an incredibly relatable character. Initially, I didn’t expect to connect with her as much as I did. Her journey felt authentic, especially when her father shows up at her college—not to check on her after an injury, but to announce that he's remarried and moving away. While my situation was different, I could relate on a personal level, as I found out about my father’s remarriage through Facebook pictures.

One of the highlights for me was Hagan. His persistence and kindness, even when Adalee wasn’t always warm toward him, made him an admirable and endearing character. His strong support system and close-knit family were heartwarming, and I’m excited to see how the rest of the series unfolds.

As for the narration, Allie Piper and Michael Gallagher did an incredible job. Michael Gallagher’s voice, in particular, stood out, bringing depth and personality to the characters. The narrators truly made the story come alive, enhancing the overall experience.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a heartfelt, engaging story!

All I have to say is l’m not okay!! I need the third book like yesterday. The narrators were perfect and had me on the edge of my seat during the intense scenes. Which lets be honest was most of the book. At no point in the story was I bored or thinking okay get on with it. I heard many speculation that this was a filler book… well I’m here to tell you it’s not a filler book. Well done Rebecca Yarros and everyone involved that helped make this book amazing.

Colleen Hoover did it again! She had me ugly snob crying throughout this entire book. Reminders of Him was so well written. Colleen Hoover will and always be that one author I can turn to and never be disappointed.

I was disappointed at the end. I feel like it was rushed and left me wanting more. This series needs another book!
