Historia
Jada Pinkett Smith was living what many would view as a fairy-tale of Hollywood success. But appearances can be deceiving, and as she felt more and more separated from her sense of self, emotional turmoil took hold. Sparing no detail, Worthy chronicles her life.

This book started out exciting. I thought I was going to learn about Jada and how she overcame obstacles and why she made those unconventional choices. I found her to be a very interesting person. The book belied all that. It was more of a lullaby. I skipped chapters and went to the slap. I went back to read other chapters but I couldn’t listen to it anymore. Dem words of wisdom wasn’t cutting it because they were not her words. She was trying too hard to be wise and less so to be vulnerable. I didn’t even read the part that was “dedicated” to Tupac. I had enough. Did anyone ever find out why she was contemplating suicide and how she overcame that? She would start a story and then go off on whole different tangent.

Historia
There are many things that seem normal or average today that at one point in time seemed absolutely crazy. Smartphones, Wi-Fi, and even the electric light bulb were all groundbreaking, history-making inventions that started out as crazy ideas. Our see-it-to-believe-it generation tends to have a hard time exercising true faith - one that steps out, takes action, and sees mountain-moving results. Many of us would rather play it safe and stand on the sidelines, but it’s crazy faith that helps us see God move and reveals His promises.

An Impressed non-believer
Revisado: 05-17-23
I became disillusioned by the Bible after I bought this book. I decided to finish listening to it and I am greatly pleased. I can still apply faith in my life, although not in a biblical way.
The reader did an excellent job.
I think I will listen to it again. I can almost see Mike Todd delivering the sermons as I listened.

The title belies the content

Can’t say I enjoyed this book. There is nothing Socratic about this book. If you are looking for any reference to Socrates, this is not that book. The author compiled his podcasts in a book. It reads more like several research papers than a book. I wonder what the thesis of this research is. This is just a compilation of other people’s stories that is just being regurgitated by reader.
