Historia
Waking the Tiger offers a new and hopeful vision of trauma. It views the human animal as a unique being, endowed with an instinctual capacity. It asks and answers an intriguing question: Why are animals in the wild, though threatened routinely, rarely traumatized? By understanding the dynamics that make wild animals virtually immune to traumatic symptoms, the mystery of human trauma is revealed.

Great book but difficult narration
Revisado: 09-16-23
The book was great, but personally, I wasn’t a fan of the narration on this one

Worst experience ever
Revisado: 06-01-22
I got this because I wanted a modernized summary of Wealth of Nations that would make the classic text easier to understand.
What I got instead was:
- 50-minutes of someone reading passages from the book verbatim, with almost no summarization
The majority of this “summary” is word-for-word from the book without trying to make it easier to digest.
- terrible quality audio / speaking
There’s a loud piano playing throughout the book that makes it difficult to hear the speaker.
The speaker themself is clearly not recording this in a professional studio. They often pause randomly, and even repeat themselves verbatim.
Very disappointed with this purchase.

Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain, yet we know very little about how it works. Gut: The Inside Story is an entertaining, informative tour of the digestive system from the moment we raise a tasty morsel to our lips until the moment our body surrenders the remnants to the toilet bowl. No topic is too lowly for the author's wonder and admiration, from the careful choreography of breaking wind to the precise internal communication required for a cleansing vomit.

Too much theory
Revisado: 02-21-21
I was disappointed because I was expecting more practical takeaways on how to cultivate a healthy gut. It felt like most of the book was like a Biology class rather than a how-to guide to improve my health.

More information isn’t always better
Revisado: 09-26-20
“Your business probably won’t be amazing”, so instead you should focus on creating more information, according to the author.
I understand the premise of the book, and I strongly believe that providing value is the foundation of a successful business, but I think there were some flaws in thinking.
One of the examples of a “Utility Business” was an app that tells you when you should pee during a movie. Is creating that really a worthwhile use of time?
I would have liked to see more emphasis on how to hone in on your customers biggest needs so that the types of content you’re creating is truly valuable... not just creating gimmicky, mildly helpful information on a hamster wheel.
Your business WILL be amazing if you hone in on the market’s biggest frustrations and provide relevant information to solve their issues.
More information doesn’t always mean more value.

Historia
This provocative book introduces a brand-new view of technology. It suggests that technology as a whole is not a jumble of wires and metal but a living, evolving organism that has its own unconscious needs and tendencies. Kevin Kelly looks out through the eyes of this global technological system to discover "what it wants." He uses vivid examples from the past to trace technology's long course and then follows a dozen trajectories of technology into the near future to project where technology is headed.
